Sky Fits Heaven is probs my second fave track on the album. It's pretty much so perfect.

100% shoulda been a single. Info above is news to me and I don't really understand why it wasn't allowed to be a single. Maybe if it was then there would have been news articles about it and the poet could have felt too "mainstream"?

I don't know... just thinking out loud.

What an incredible song. Not just a favourite on the album but in her entire discography too. I think only Forbidden Love surpasses it for me as a M album track. Sheer perfection <3

Agreed with the consensus here that ‘Sky Fits Heaven’ is one of Madonna’s very best album tracks and should have been a single. Putting aside the potential reason it couldn’t, I think ‘Sky Fits Heaven’ would have been a more successful third single than ‘Drowned World’; it’s more commercial and I think would compliment ‘Ray of Light’ as its follow-up.

I love the "travelling down their own road" lyric, it's pure atmospheric euphoric bliss.

Agreed!

Yep... agree with that.

As much as I like Drowned World, I always found it a little odd as a single choice and not overly surprised that it stalled at No.10 in the UK.

Frozen to win. I went off it slightly for a little while (like only a 10/10 instead of an 11/10) but these days it's back in the god tier

I think Madonna has cited it as her favourite song on the album so maybe she pushed it for a single and, what with it not getting a release in the US, the record company agreed to give it a minor release? I think the title track was released physically a little later in the US so ‘Drowned World’ bridged the gap between releases for the rest of the world.

The weird thing about Drowned World is that I agree it wasn't the most obvious single but I heard the Sasha mix of it in clubs WAY more than I did anything of the other singles from the era. It was really hyped in the dance magazines of the time

Drowned World had to be a single. Under contract!

M really changed this song from its starting point!

Obviously Frozen will win but Imo TPOG is slightly better. No wonder I have two ballads that usually do not rank that high in these rankings in my Madonna top three.

Then production and vocals of the two finalists!!

TPOG must be on the tour

02. The Power of Goodbye // 10.05 average

Highest: five 11s, twelve 10s // Lowest: one 8

01. Frozen // 10.15 average

Highest: eight 11s, eight 10s // Lowest: one 8

So close in the end! :o wow a point or two difference :drama:

Both stupendously beautiful, mesmerising tracks and career highlights. A worthy winner too, it's her best ever single.

Both of these MUST be featured on tour now <3

Wow that's closer than I thought. I don't think I've ever seen a rate where not one but TWO songs finish with an average over 10 :o

What an amazing top three! Happy enough with Frozen although The Power Of Goodbye is definitely in my Madonna top three, an incredibly beautiful track. Madonna's vocal, the lyrics, the chorus, the sublime production. The same could be applied to Frozen too though, a very worthy winner.
