August 18, 20231 yr Author So many smashes :cheeseblock: Out of the Woods, Anti-Hero, Wildest Dreams and Cruel Summer were bound to be here but rightly so, 4 of my absolute favourites of hers too. Red, DBM & champagne problems are great picks too and definitely towards the top of my rankings from their albums <3 epiphany and Safe & Sound wouldn’t quite be in my top 10 BUT i’m not complaining bc they are 100% two of her most underrated songs and I’m so glad to see some love for them! Delicate is honestly one of her most overrated songs for me but I'm not surprised to see it so high because it seems to be universally loved by everyone else  Intrigued to see your Top 5, thinking either cardigan or ATW for the win? Glad to see you stanning so much of them! <3 Yep those are all classics for a reason <3, and love seeing you stan the album tracks <3 Both those songs deserve so much appreciation so I'm glad you're still stanning even if they wouldn't be that high for you! Yeah I remember back in the day Rep came out, there were a couple Swifties here that felt the same but they've now left the site  We'll find out now! x (but those are both very good guesses!) Thanks <3 <3
August 18, 20231 yr Author #05-#01 05. Shake It Off (1989) - Yep, I don't care. I have never ONCE found this sound annoying and I hate how much the fanbase is not a fan of it haha. I have such fond memories of Shake It Off's release, from watching the 1989 announcement stream on Yahoo (woo that's a throwback) to the VMA's performance to being absolutely obsessed with every detail of the track from the song to the video. Taylor has always been one of my favourite artists but I'd say this was the moment I fully knew who my number #1 singer to stan was (tho tbf I think I already knew that by early 2013 x). This song is just so irresistibly catchy, and in my opinion is one of the best pop songs of all time. The production is absolutely immaculate, the amount of different layers (which I'm really hoping gets recaptured on Taylor's Version, its the song I'm most worried about ending up like WANEGBTTV) is insane, the saxophones (or whatever it is) are perfect, its got every element a great pop song needs. Also one of the most catchy songs of all times. The lyrics are so much fun, I adore the bridge, the video is one of my favourite Taylor videos (I think I watched it about 1000 times in 2014, the slightly extended outro is a slay and her cheerleader look is one of my all time faves *.*). I don't think there's a song that makes me smile more, and this goes off live SO well. It was epic seeing this in Rep tour, and the transition into this in her 2019 AMA medley was the highlight, its the perfect feel good song. I've been listening to this so much over the past few months and it really has that perfect charm (and also lowkey should be 4th here, but I'm not changing my rankings from March x) 4. Look What You Made Me Do (Reputation) - Another underrated GEM of a lead single and one of the best moments in pop history. I remember this release so well, from being in a hotel room (and freaking out) when she cleared her insta posts, to getting of a train and watching an insta video leading to me screaming in public when a snake jumped out (!), to watching the video at 6am at a train station on the way back from a festival after it premiered at the VMAs. This song was instant love for me, and I thought this was a great direction. The lyrics are so clever and I love how she reclaimed the snake, I especially love the drama/karma 2nd verse, whew a moment. The production is so catchy, from the Disney-ish fairytale opening chords to the electroclash elements. And once again its so catchy, definitely my bad bitch anthem haha. And ofc, the old Taylor lyric, whew you just had to be there, I was so SHOOK when I heard that. And of course, we have to talk about the video. Her best video ever and honestly, the best video of all time. The amount of looks, actually good Easter eggs, plot, twists that video served whew! Nils Sjoberg! The snakes! The grammy and crash! Her holding up the 'big machine'! The squad! The money! The Taylor tower!!!!! I still couldn't believe the latter, whew a moment in history. And damn this goes off live, if the studio version had the extra guitars like the live version this could be even higher here! What a masterpiece <3 3. Enchanted (Speak Now) - Everyone's favourite Speak Now track is also my favourite Speak Now track because enough of me being original in this top 3 x Enchanted really is just one of the most beautiful songs ever penned. The lyrics are utterly gorgeous, and have that Taylor power of being so relatable and capturing that person who has left a mark on you. The melody is beautiful as the song slowly builds, to that beautiful chorus. The 'please don't be in love with someone else' lyric stings so much and really brings the song together. And that final chorus whew, perfection. This song has been there for me in so many important times within my life, some I've talked about on here before and some I haven't, and is one of the first album tracks I ever fell in love with (as a child I was that person that would buy all my faves albums, but only download the singles onto my iPod ). I'm listening to it now and it just has that magical quality that so few songs possess, and I'm so glad we have this beauty of a masterpiece <3 I wish we got a video and push with Speak Now Taylor's Version but oh well, its still a masterpiece! 2. All Too Well (Original + 10 Min Version) (Red) - And everyone's favourite song from Red, is once again my favourite song from Red x And yep, its so easy to see why this has become a career defining masterpiece. Lyrically, its one of the best songs of all time. The storytelling here is something else, and the scarf callback gets me every time, the layers of context whew. That chorus is otherworldly, both recapturing the memories whilst being heartbreaking. And yeah the bridge is her best bridge, the amount of emotion and power of those lyrics. This was instant love for me and it's been so great seeing this become the fan favourite and an eventual hit. I adore the 5 minute version and so many of my dearest memories of this song are with that version, but nowadays I barely ever listen to it. I remember being so excited for the 10 minute version, but in my head I was like I'll just enjoy it for a few listens and then return to the original version with a more normal runtime. But... here we are and the 10 min version is the ESSENTIAL for me, I still listen to it regularly and she somehow managed to make the song even better with the extra time. The bridge somehow is even better and even more heartbreaking than the original, I love all the new lyrics and the subtle changes in the chorus, and the outro is beautiful. I also adore the short film (Sadie slayed) and this has become such an essential song for me. And now I can have 10 mins of crying instead of 5! There's a reason this is a career defining masterpiece, one of the most beautiful songs of all time <3 1. cardigan (folklore) - I always struggled between choosing what my favourite Tay song was between the songs I discussed from #2-#6. Thankfully, I no longer have to struggle, because during the last couple years, for the first time ever I finally have a song which is my clear and easy favourite song from her discography. The first time I heard cardigan, it was instant love. It was my initial fave from folklore with epiphany, and also hit so hard during covid times. And over the past few years, I just haven't stopped returning to it at all, and it somehow manages to get better every single time I listen to it. The last two minutes of this song are the best two minutes of her career, the way I transcend every single time I hear that part of the song. The lyrics are absolutely perfect and have so many layers to them, from the folklore love triangle, to that feeling of knowing more than you think you know and the detailed memories (the Wendy lyric & the shadows/grocery line are up there with her best ever, and paint such a clear picture of this story), to the subtle references to her eras during the first verse, to so many other interpretations. Taylor's lyrics work best when they paint such a clear picture and details such specific memories (see All Too Well, and Last Kiss which I have no idea why I ranked so low here and with Taylor's Version would be about 90 places higher than it is oops), and Taylor does this perfectly on cardigan. The you'd come back without the to me is heartbreaking, and its little moments like that that make this the best song in her discography. The melody and production is also pitch perfect, the intro, the subtle changes in sounds, the soothing and calming moments, the little switch-ups as we get towards those final two minutes. The production gives the song such a timeless quality. The video is beautiful too. I listened to this so much during that rough 2020, and so much every year since, and I'm glad its become such a big streaming hit now that it deserved to be on initial release, cos it is such a masterpiece. Taylor has so many elements as to why she's my favourite singer ever, and cardigan is the song which captures every factor as to why she's my favourite singer. A timeless classic and a beautiful beautiful masterpiece. <3 so yep, I put this ranking on here and said cardigan was my favorite  Thanks to everyone who has followed this over the past few months, sorry this has taken so long as always with anything I run, but I've actually finished it now!!
August 18, 20231 yr Interesting Top 5, three lead singles! I consider Shake It Off and Look What You Made Do some of her worst songs  Enchanted and All Too Well would probably be in my Top 10
August 18, 20231 yr 'cardigan' is ageing like fine WINE! Like, it's literally getting better and better the more I hear it. Such a gorgeous song. SIO & LWYMMD top 5 is not for me, but I do LOVE that they are for you! Just because I like it when things aren't predictable and IK how much you love SIO (I knew you loved LWYMMD too just not to this extent!!) ATW & Enchanted speak for themselves tbh. I might do a little rundown if I can be bothered to order and rank everything. But it'd probs just be like a top 50 or something!
August 18, 20231 yr honestly such a slay top 5. shake it off is such a bop, i adore it! always one i play to get in a feel good mood. lwymmd is also one of my faves, both are over-hated, my go to bad b!tch anthem! enchanted is so gorgeous and i wish she pushed it for sntv same as she did for all too well, atw is phenominal and cardigan is a goegeous one! loved following this, and youve got me inspired to do my own! got a spreadhseet up and typed in all her songs so now its time to rank them lol!
August 18, 20231 yr Congrats for finally finishing this :magic: I think 'cardigan' would probably be #1 for me as well (close with 'Blank Space') and 'All Too Well' and 'epiphany' would both rank highly as well so yay for them all doing so well here. Also think 'Shake It Off' is a little too overhated by the fanbase, not one of her best songs but much better than some of her other big pop hits (like the horror that you die on the hill of still ranking as high as #4 :kink:)
August 18, 20231 yr Totally agree that 'Safe & Sound' and 'epiphany' are two really underrated ones in her catalogue! The 'Shake It Off' commentary took me back to that night it premiered - can definitely recall how obsessed you were from day 1  Well done for completing, was fun to read along

Thanks! Yasss I'm so glad to see another stan of those two lead singles, u literally summed up perfectly why both are so good and deserve more love!! Same, I'm shocked Enchanted got zero push at all, I didn't think she'd go as all out as she did with ATW but I thought we'd get something of a push. Thank you <3 And that'd be great to see!! It's such an impossible task but it can be done haha  Congrats for finally finishing this :magic: I think 'cardigan' would probably be #1 for me as well (close with 'Blank Space') and 'All Too Well' and 'epiphany' would both rank highly as well so yay for them all doing so well here. Aha that takes me back so much!! It feels insane that Shake It Off was one of the first big releases in general that I was on this forum for, damn that really feels like forever ago!! Such good times and memories back in the mid-2010s <3
August 19, 20231 yr A few surprises for me: Mine or All Too Well not being #1 and cardigan winning, but that is a solid top 5! I like Shake It Off and Look What You Made Me Do.
August 19, 20231 yr youve got me inspired to do my own! got a spreadhseet up and typed in all her songs so now its time to rank them lol! Do it! I like reading them!
