Seeing Eurovision songs do so well on Spotify is crazy - it felt like when streaming arrived, all chances of Eurovision songs hitting the top 40 were very slim but (and I know it's partly because the UK hosted, obviously) it seems as if there's a slight shift in Eurovision being taken a bit more seriously in the last few years and people actually seeing the value in the quality that's being put forward.

 

The pandemic really seemed to either kill things off, or push things forward to thrive and Eurovision seems to have thrived since the year off in 2020 to be even more loved than it was before. It's amazing to see :wub:

I’m not a huge fan of Eurovision but would be great to see the top 20 shaken up a bit and getting some older songs out!

I was hoping Käärijä had a good chance of being top 10 since he was just outside on Apple and the Eurovision songs usually do a bit better on Spotify - but #2 is definitely much better than I expected, I was thinking maybe #5 or so at a push! :cheeseblock: Yasss at Alessandra top 5 too (and ofc congrats to Loreen going to #1 which is a big moment regardless of my middling feelings on the song itself, I did think she might as I said the other day too but didn't predict her having this big of a lead over Kushner, a second top 3 hit for her really might be on the cards at this rate! Rooting hard for 'Cha Cha Cha' to go top 10 as well now, but I won't hold my breath too much as it's very possible the effect might die off faster than last year after the UK's bad result).

 

17 Eurovision songs in the top 200 surely must be the most ever - shame that 3 of my personal top 5 are among the ones that missed out but can't say any of those are particularly shocking misses :kink: (my top 5 was Spain / Finland / Australia / Germany / Moldova).

 

I am surprised to see Ukraine's song doing so well - that was one I enjoyed more than I expected but still seemed like it got a pretty middling reception compared to their usual entries, I'd have predicted it to be near the bottom of the pile in streams. Of course our UK televote 10 pointer from Lithuania is nowhere to be seen as the Lithuanian diaspora clearly aren't nearly as loyal on streams as they are on voting :P

Tatto is number 1 now on AM.

So cool! Shame it's not enough to grab #1 this week, but another top-3 looks like a strong possibility?

Hope Käärijä can go top ten, would be the first Finnish song to go top ten since Wings of a Butterfly by HIM (#10, 2005).

Impressive stability for both Loreen and Käärijä!

Ooooh yay! I definitely wasn't expecting them to hold anywhere near this well today.

Sam got 414k on the Monday last year so both Loreen and Käärijä have held up better!

16 finalists plus Euphoria have remained in the top 200 - only Slovenia have dropped out since yesterday.

very good hold indeed for Swe/Fin/Nor, less so for Mae

Calvin seems pretty far and low on streams but guess he has many versions and remixes

 

Oh wow, that's Loreen on lock for her second top three I think, yasssss!

 

Which begs the niche question, are there any other artists who have had over a decade between their only two hits, both of which went top three?
