why don't we have a third semifinal with all the Big 5 countries crowning the biggest crybaby saying it's unfair they automatically go to the final each year. would that be enough to finally have UK send something other than an F-tier song (except last year I guess)?

the amount of comments I've seen this year about I Wrote a Song almost being in contention for the win was ridiculous. And finishing 5th or something in Buzzvision. Yeahhhhhh, all while judging the song itself, sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

You always seem very angry at people from the UK supporting songs sent by the UK and getting behind their own country and I don't get it. Isn't that one of the most fun parts of Eurovision? I Wrote A Song was not my favourite song of the year but it absolutely was in my top 10 and it was a really great feeling to have pride in something sent by my country.

One of my absolute favourites things about attending this years Eurovision was that, because I was carrying a Finland flag with me everywhere, I kept getting mistaken for being Finnish and winding up having a lot of conversations with people from Finland. And their sense of national pride because of Käärijä was beautiful to see, displayed not in a football hooligan sense, but in a very defiant way nonetheless. The same for Belgian fans that I was stood by on Wednesday's jury show.

Why is it any different for Big 5 countries liking to get behind their own and being disappointed when it doesn't quite go as they hoped?

I don’t think Mae deserved to finish second bottom, I still think it was a great choice and the song itself is probably one of our best entries in recent years. I’m hoping she manages to go top 10 as it will set her up for more support going forward.
Maybe the juries could have a different score system; 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 3 or something (or 10, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 so the number of countries they can vote for isn't so limiting), so distributing two thirds as many points as the televoters have the chance to. And also the jury vote winner wouldn't be quite as likely to run away with it if 10 was the jury cap and 12 was the public cap.

I do think Juries have too much of a say though, the fact Loreen won despite topping no televotes is absolutely insane.
That's true actually - Finland were clear top 2 yet never really even had a moment to shine in the results process.

I have to disagree with you there a tiny bit. They had a moment and it was rather huge with the whole stadium going mental.

Well she wasn't the first to do it by any means - Jamala and Duncan Laurence didn't topped the televotes either.

I think he means Loreen didn't actually receive a single 12 from the televote.

Yeh basically

I think second bottom was a very harsh result and I feel really bad for her, but she flunked the performance :(

Everyone I was with in the room watching it went "what the F was that?" when the performance finished, which wasn't what I was hoping for as I have been loving the song for weeks.

she didnt deserved higher im afraid, sorry to break the bubble, her vocals were atrocious and the song wasnt unique not stand out, im surprised polish song got so many points.

well ABBA next year, so Eurovision did everything they could that would happen and be so convenient.

Didn't realise you had to top the scoreboard at least once to win? It's a points system? She still got quite a few points more than the rest of the countries in the televote. She literally got every Country's votes except... her rival Finland (and by the sounds of it they were purposely sabotaging? If it's true that they were indeed literally telling their Country NOT to vote for her - which is a problem in itself) So it doesn't matter if she tops any of the televotes or not?

Idk. I'm getting tired of all this discourse surrounding it  I need to remove myself from it all lmao. But it's just a bit frustrating that it's never really been a big issue (for the most part) until now? And (not necessarily anyone on here but) it's odd when she's literally had the most popular song pre-show and post show but people are acting like she received nothing from the televote and only received the juries votes, it's just so silly to me

Wtaf is THIS????

Why is she being made to feel this way about her win? Are all the winners asked this?

There’s a little extra context to that that’s missing because of course it is.

Seems to come from a line of questioning about how she felt about the competition between her and Käärijä basically.

And it’a not as if Käärijä isn’t getting the same questions

Did anyone hear this lol and will it hold any plagiarism grounds?

Well there are certainly some striking similarities in the pre chorus and chorus but you do have to wonder why that’s being pushed now.

I’m team Finland but as others have said all these attempts to discredit Loreen’s win are a bit ridiculous. Nobody seemed bothered when Sweden’s last winner Måns came 3rd in the televote - she did better than that. Sure the rules can be looked at for the future and maybe 50% juries is a bit too high. I like the idea of the jury scores going from 8 down to 1 and the televote scores staying as they are.

Talking of similar sounding songs

The Cha Cha Cha chants in Finlands song was very similar to the backing in Moldova’s song from this year. Listen to the Moldova song and you will hear it!

I think people are just trying anything to bring Sweden down. Like people said, it was the most popular pre-contest. It will be the most popular post-contest. It garnered millions of public votes and was respected by Juries.
