It's not that I want her to unleash 10 different remixes and then completely move on from Padam Padam after Friday. However, even one new version - as mentioned, something simple like an Instrumental - could inspire a few hundred more downloads and make all the difference in getting a Top 40 hit, straight out of the starting blocks. Which would be an immense achievement for an (almost) 55 year old female artist on her 16th studio album. For her stans it's a nice new stat, increasing her number of Top 40 hits to 52, and her span of Top 40 hits would stretch to 35 years.

I suppose for me it's a case of, they've got a shot at Top 40... so go for it! Don't throw that away by not trying. However I think the 59p price is an indication that the label is trying, and wants it. It will be interesting to see if the next 3 days of midweeks inspires BMG to do anything else.

Clearly her campaign is largely focused on achieving large album sales and getting to #1 - but having a Top 40 hit single to its name is an excellent position to be in to start the campaign. Getting a mention on Radio 1's chart and possibly even being played is better than... it being #45 and that not happening.

Padam Padam is back in the UK Spotify Top 200 at #186 with just less than 68,000 streams

It's also up to #67 on Apple.

Get that Top 40 hit Kylie.

Kylie is used to huge number 1's and top 10's , not sure she is too fussed on seeing

Padam Padam - 39

:)

^^ That’s the highest position it’s been on Apple too - Kylie getting that streaming relevance in 2023 :cheeseblock:

The fans are fussed though that’s why we all got behind ‘Dancing’ and she hasn’t been used to No.1s and Top 10’s for a long time

In the UK, it's been...

19 years and 6 months since her last #1 single (Slow)

12 years and 3 months since her last Top 10 single (Higher - #8) or if we only consider her as a lead artist, it's been 12 years and 11 months since All the Lovers (#3).

Presumably after all this time, Kylie has a complete understanding of how the singles charts operate these days and she doesn't go into releasing singles expecting the positions she probably took for granted in the first 20 to 25 years of her career.

I'd like to think that she'd be happy to see herself in the Top 40 these days! She's only had three of them in the last 10 years. Into the Blue (#12 - though this was still in an era of the chart when Top 10 was viable, so it was probably considered a bit disappointing), Santa Baby (#38 initially, eventually #31) and Dancing (#38). Almost 5 and a half years since Dancing.

Even longer since Kylie last had a Top 40 hit in Australia - Timebomb in 2012. Her last #1 was 2 Hearts in 2007, which was also her final Top 10 there. :drama:

What’s positive is that those within the industry will know how much harder it is for Kylie to even make the top 100 so if the 59p reduction helps her achieve top 40 it’ll be worth it…because they all know it’s because she’s actually managed to make a much bigger dent with streaming.

Future radio play and positioning on playlists will definitely be better if PP goes top 40 this week.

Being able to advertise the song as a top 40 hit can surely only help, top 75 or 100 doesn’t have the same bragging rights

This! ‘Featuring the #46 Smash Padam, Padam’ doesn’t quite have the same ring to it

I'm sure she would much prefer to see

Padam Padam - #39

than

Padam Padam - #62

I think at this point we are talking between ‘Padam Padam’ at something like 39 or at 45. And that’s where it gets even more annoying. Sure, it has the potential to peak on streaming later, but that might mean lingering around #70 for a while. So once it has a chance — I would grab it! But looks like BMG are invested now too, so hopefully they throw one extra version by Thursday if they see the top-40 is on the cards.
If bmg are invested and put in the effort it will help, ideally if the song can get out on channels that usually ignore her it could be the turning point, I know that has always been crucial but where kylie is at right now it would be a huge breakthrough even if it only lasts for 1 single

Just looking at some of last weeks sales in the singles

37 Jonas Brother 11,349

41 Radiohead Creep 10,417

48 Teya and Selena 9,065

Based on that Kylie would need nearly 5k more for this week to go top 40 and around 3k to stay top 50.

The week before

38 Jazzy 10,632

45 Mae Muller 8,696

51 Tunde 8,229

She easily will, aside from the iTunes boost she's made a BIG climb on Apple today (to almost top 50) and is doing really well on Spotify by her standards. I think she can even do top 30 maybe.
To make top 30 I think she would need to double her existing sales, hopefully we get another sales update tomorrow which will help give a further indication of where it might end up on Friday.
Could we do a new last minute poll like this again now we have sales info and we can predict its actual debut position on Friday?
It’s only dropped 1 place from Mondays midweek position and still no1 on iTunes. I predict it will have a similar chart entry position to timebomb.
