Posted May 23, 20231 yr Two teams will go down to the championship on Sunday, one will survive and remain in the premier league for another season. Who will it be?
May 23, 20231 yr Author In the last poll I stated Everton, Leicester and Southampton to go down, and I stand by this despite Leeds United's woeful form of late, but of the opposition teams each are facing on the last day, it would be Tottenham I would consider the easier opponents, and I don't think the Tottenham players will care having nothing to play for now, so I think they could get a 1-0 win to secure them safety. I don't want Leicester to go, but they have not had a great season at all, and Everton are still one of the worst run clubs in the country and deserve to taste non-premier league football for once so I hope that they go.
May 23, 20231 yr Everton aren't losing their game so the worst they'll get is a draw meaning Leeds have no chance. Then it's up to Leicester who if they win (and Everton draw) have the superior GD so will stay up. I think Everton win anyway so even Leicester winning won't save them but for what it's worth I don't think Leicester beat West Ham anyway. So the 2 Ls to go down.
May 23, 20231 yr To go down, I think it will be Everton and Leeds United. It's a long shot but I think Leicester City might just stay up. For the final day of the season, I'll be doing all teams to score in the Premier League. It could be that West Ham United will have one eye on the Europa Conference League final and rest key players. Everton v Bournemouth well pardon the 'Ellie Goulding pan' anything could happen. Leeds, I don't know what Spurs team will turn up in that game and for Leeds they'll leak goals. I wasn't sure what Dean Smith's tactics were last night when Leicester played Newcastle.
May 23, 20231 yr Dean Smith nearly pulled off a masterstroke to be fair! Castagne had that fantastic chance at the end for the ultimate 1-0 away smash and grab after soaking up all of the Toon pressure.
May 23, 20231 yr Author It could be that West Ham United will have one eye on the Europa Conference League final and rest key players. Oh that’s a valid point, but Leicester need more shots to make it count. I wouldn’t mind if they stayed up, but they have looked very weak this season.
May 23, 20231 yr Leeds are down, it's between Leicester and Everton. I don't know, I have the feeling West Ham players will be shit scared of getting injured. I think a lot of it will come down to the energy of the home crowds at both Everton and Leicester and how they deal with the crowd reactions dependent on the other games. Everton look to be favourites, but I actually think Leicester might win. That point away to Newcastle will give them big confidence.
May 23, 20231 yr It's nice to be able to say that I really don't care! :D Possible that a win for any of them will keep them up, they've all been so bad. All have "winnable" games at home but I don't see that as an advantage necessarily. I'm convinced the reason we (Forest) have pulled ourselves out from it is because our fans are still united behind the team, manager and owner and helped drive the team on at home with a brilliant atmosphere. Each of the teams below hates at least one of those. Edited May 23, 20231 yr by RabbitFurCoat
May 23, 20231 yr Sadly it does look like it'll be difficult for Leeds to stay up given their final match is against Tottenham. I'm going for things staying as they are and Everton staying up.
May 23, 20231 yr It's nice to be able to say that I really don't care! :D It's even better to be able to look at the relegation battle after qualifying for European football :yahoo:
May 23, 20231 yr I think it will be Leeds and Leicester going down. I could imagine Leicester beating West Ham at home but also think Everton will do the same against Bournemouth. I don't see much hope for Leeds to be honest and think they could even end up losing to Tottenham.
