It’s really hard to know. They have quite a bit of goodwill and plenty of other nostalgia acts have performed well with multiple releases, plus sales continue to be low meaning a high peak should be achievable. BUT Blue who were around at the same time as them recently charted really low with their latest album… and they managed to do an arena tour while Sugababes had to do theatres and academies.

I guess it all comes down to how good the martial is and the support they can gather for it!

I’m sure they could do decently if they play they game and release multiples, do signings and album launch shows etc
The One Touch anniversary pressing hit the top 20, should be no reason why we can’t do that again

And that was with fairly minimal promo.

I'm pretty sure they could go top ten as long as they play their cards right. But yeah, obviously it will fall hard in the second week.

They have a core fanbase and there will be curiosity streams etc., - as I said earlier if they play the multi-format, album signing etc., game then they could easily strike a Top 10 in the right week but in terms of longevity I’d expect nothing more than an 8-86-out kind of release.
Most albums right now are following that kind of trajectory. Back when they were releasing regularly last, that would have been an embarrassment and the dive bombing of shite7 through the chart was unthinkable for the Sugababes. However the world has changed a lot since 2009, and especially music consumption habits. A dive bomb wouldn’t be the death knell it once was

Echoing others, I'm sure a brand new album with multi-formats and promotion could get them into the Top 10. Maybe even Top 5!

I feel like it would definitely be a 2 weeks chart run at most, sadly. Which would be completely normal these days.

Things really have changed when you consider that Sweet 7 was quite literally just released on one CD (in terms of physicals - obviously it had downloads too). Yet I don't think a new Sugababes album would be able to outsell Sweet 7 now, even if it had 10 formats - but would surely chart quite a bit higher. It's just the way that things have gone.

Also there doesn’t seem as much buzz around them - I know the original 3 piece are back together but Siobhan was absent for 99% of the hits even though the original line up is iconic.

They also seem to be selling small venues while SC7, Busted etc., are selling arenas.

It feels as though they are in All Saints territory which is a shame as I’m sure the quality of the music to come will be amazing, however if the new album sells well enough and creates interest in future tours then that’s probably their overall aim.

To the best of my knowledge, even in their heyday they weren't doing arenas. I think the upcoming show at the O2 might be their first arena show in any incarnation.

^^ I saw them at Wembley Arena back in the day (with the addition of black curtains covering the unsold top tier!)

Their tour in 2007 was their only arena tour! In 2008 they were back to theatres and halls. Well, to be totally fair, the Cardiff venue is an arena, but it has a relatively small capacity compared to most arenas.

Always a curiosity to me that they were such strong album sellers and achieved many big hits, but they couldn't triumphantly make the step up to arenas (as ___∆___ says, that tour was a "black curtain hiding blocks" situation).

(I know this is going off topic!)

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact they were more about the vocals rather than the flashy staging and that was always at odds with what audiences expected from a girl group. I also suspect that if Mutya hadn't left they probably would've upgraded towards more arenas easier with the greatest hits package - she really did leave at the wrong time.

A Greatest Hits released by 2.0 would have felt like so much more of an event and celebration! I agree, 2.0 probably could have transitioned into arenas more easily. A pity things turned out like they did, but obviously Mutya had understandable reasons to go.

I mean, The Singles Collection did pretty well all things considered, but the timing of it felt random. I'll never appreciate them releasing it with 3.0 on the cover when that album is almost entirely about 2.0's success. I didn't much care for Taller in More Ways being reissued with Amelle on the cover either, with just 4 songs with her vocals on... felt like a rushed and lazy quick fix.

Anyway, album 9... give me that solo Mutya artwork CD please xx

I agree the Sugababes Greatest Hits always seemed like the wrong one to release at the time! A studio album should have been released in it's place to give Amelle more roots in the group. Obviously it performed well and then Change also sold well after it so it worked for them, but I feel like a studio album released when the GH was would have just as well for them, if not better.

Oh I forgot about this. Yeah I think they will likely do a top 10 album then.
