Well, that is up to her I guess. I dont listen to her music anyway but very interesting. I didnt realise she was a tory or maybe she just wanted the extra pay cheque. Times might be hard for her, cant begrudge someone who has no money doing desperate things I guess hun. Maybe she doesnt even support tory but she had to pay the leccy bill to keep the electricity on. We have all done things we would prefer not to so we can keep the house running.

I haven't stopped listening to Ella Henderson's (good) music over it or anything, but I do think that was was really misguided and silly of her at the time. I don't think it did her any favours, and I can't imagine the fee she collected would've justified the backlash she got - and then not even saying anything about it wasn't helpful.

 

More importantly, I still wonder who in her team thought that would be a good idea? They must really have it in for her.

I think the backlash was mainly due to her being at Pride events and having a large LGBTQ+ backing and then to be gigging for a party which is basically p!ssing all over their rights and being anything but an ally.

'Sprinter' beating its day 1 streams then and surpassing the day 1 streams of 'Shape Of You' (although that did have a higher peak of 1,322,199, and had other versions pushing it even further ahead ofc).

 

As well as its new peak on the global chart, it's also hit #1 in Belgium, Canada and Denmark for the first time today, returned to #1 in Ireland and held #1 in Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland. Not checked everywhere else but it looks like it's either matched or beaten its previous peaks in most of the other countries it's charted in... and it's finally debuted at the dizzying heights of #165 in the US :cheeseblock: (as resistant as the US always is to UK rap, I was kind of surprised it didn't at least scrape in there on its first day as 'Doja' and 'LET GO' did both make the US Spotify chart and 'Sprinter' was immediately a bigger worldwide hit than either of those, including getting a top 3 debut in Canada). Dave's first appearance in the US Spotify chart since his Ed Sheeran feature which peaked at #59, he also previously peaked at #131 with the 'Wanna Know' remix w/ Drake all the way back in 2017. Always feels weird to remember that collaboration actually happened, and before Dave properly blew up in the UK at that, wonder if they'll ever do another song together.

 

'Trojan Horse' and 'UK Rap' have both made the global chart as well at #120 and #156 respectively, although 'Our 25th Birthday' has missed out.

 

Dave aside, big rises again for the Metro Boomin / Spiderman songs today - has just occurred to me the album didn't appear in the midweeks so I guess they're treating it as a compilation despite it being solely billed to Metro Boomin (to be fair there are a few songs on the album Metro wasn't involved with). Interesting that 'Am I Dreaming' has overtaken as the highest song in the UK, 'Calling' and 'Annihilate' are still the top 2 songs in the US and global charts.

It's sad to see Nothing But Thieves have fallen out of the top 200 after their brief spell... I wonder if that was an effect of auto-play? (Yes I've only just realised x)
