look on the Brightside, mister. at least some songs are too old and omnipresent to warrant a meaningless reset

Is there a reason why Cruel Summer is climbing? Tiktok? or just from the Taylor tour?

I heard that it's because it's the greatest song ever made?? Idk

both I’d guess and the narrative that it should’ve been picked as one of the lead singles over Me/YNTCD among Taylor fans that also helped its sustained popularity since the album release

hot weather probably helping too

definitely should have beeb picked as lead single over Me(h)/YNTCD
It’s not even top 5 on Lover for me personally I never got the hype. Death By a Thousand Cuts deserves this attention!
Here for Cruel Summer smashing, a solid 11/10 moment

Would love to see it happen, but unless the label asks for a reset or she actively promotes it its stuck in the land of perm acr, she would also need to do it fast as SNTV is less than 4 weeks away

Also i can kind of see why the went with ME! As the lead as it so sugary and upbeat gets it away from the darkness of reputation plus YNTCD was mostly because of its message

There are plenty of better songs on 'Lover' for me but 'Cruel Summer' is definitely the one that sounds most like it should have been a single.

(and yes, miles better than the first 2 singles)

Harry's on tour, there are late nights in the middle of June, and above the green green grass you can see blue blue sky. What more could you ask for?

Let’s hope the Late Nights end from the 20th June then!

Lover would have been such a perfect campaign if it had gone:

Lead single: Cruel Summer

Promo single: You Need to Calm Down (for the LGBTQ+ community)

Second official single: The Man (to coincide with the album's release)

Christmas single: Lover

I do kind of see why they thought 'Me' might have been a good idea at the time, to try and establish a more playful side of her after a scornful album in Reputation. But ah well, hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Apart from the "Hey kids, spelling is fun!" line, I absolutely love ME and it's still one of my fave tracks by her. The video is unreal!!

amazed you guys see Me as lead material, it's not even b-side material for me

Obviously it should’ve never ever been the lead but I do have a soft spot for Me! (Original version with spelling is fun *.*), it’s a cute bop 😍 (and low-key top half on that album!)

And also I am grateful that it was the lead single cos I’m not quite sure folklore would’ve happened as soon as it did without the reaction and ridiculing Me! got, Taylor def wanted the conversation to return to her great songwriting skills after getting dragged hard for Me’s lyrics 😂

But I’m glad Cruel Summer is finally getting it’s justice :cheeseblock: top 3 on the album since day 1 and yep should’ve been a single!

Amazing for Kylie! Hopefully another climb on the cards for tomorrow.

She also reaches new peaks on Amazon (non-prime/prime): #13/#15. :cheer:

Never said it was just it's so Sugary sweet basically the antithesis of Reputation so can see why she went with it doesn't mean its great

It’s all of the above.

The bridge is going viral in some kind of trend with a “sped up” version.

Tour (which is insane as she hasn’t even announced UK dates here!)

Tik Tok videos of people losing their shit to the bridge on her tour/her tour in general

It’s in my Taylor Trinity. With Out of the Woods and Getaway Car. I’m so ready for it to smashhhhh

Read what I said properly and you'll see that isn't what I actually said

:) :) :)

That Noah Kahan song is great! Hopefully it makes the Top 40 this week.

It seems there’s been a little folk resurgence in the chart lately with Lizzy McAlpine and David Kushner having big hits, and Hozier sneaking in there too.

Lizzie and Hozier are great singer-songwriters, wouldn't call them "folk" though...

that Kushner thing is just a bad cringe-worthy attempt at copying Hozier

heard this Noah just once a while ago, think it was a live version, but thought the vocals were weird...
