Jain - "Makeba" was a hit in France ~6-7 years ago and charted in some other parts of Europe. Interesting to see if its entry is a one off or if it is going viral/may stick around and start appearing on other streaming charts (Apple Music/Spotify/Amazon).

Do Spotify limit plays of a song that count towards the official chart?

 

If someone just left a song on repeat all day and never listened how many of those plays would count?

Think its limited to 10 plays per user

The play count shown in the chart already has the 10 streams per user per day cap applied I think (but there's no cap for the total stream count).

 

Pretty strong second day hold for Dave/Central Cee managing to stay over 1 million.

and that people care, thought no one knew him

I'm seeing a lot of Smooth Operator on my FYP but there doesn't seem to be a specific trend linked to it (as tbh is the case for most viral songs these days, other than Bloody Mary I haven't seen a dance trend since like 2020) - recently someone made a house remix of it which is the main version people are using in their videos.

'Smooth Operator' is a song that is so timeless in sound.
