June 4, 20233 yr Is Radio 1 ageism not raising eyebrows in the UK? It’s the same to some extent in some country but chosing not to play it today is pushing it way too far. Isn’t the BBC a public station? I’m surprised this is tolerated in the UK to act like this in 2023.

June 4, 20233 yr Guys, it’s 2023, stop giving Radio 1 so much validation, no one cares what Radio 1 does or doesn’t play, it’s not 2009 anymore. In the grand scheme of things, Radio 1 playing Padam once or twice, would make no difference to where it charts on Friday.

R1 is important for emerging artists, not big established superstars. It'd be nice if they playlisted artists like Gaga, Kylie or Madonna, but it's not that important.

They supported Madonna until 2009. It’s like there was a big shift after 2010 and suddenly any woman over 30 had to go. Britney was 29 when they deemed her too “irrelevant” to playlist!
