God help some of the outrage that will ensue here if that rumoured Central Cee and Drake single drops next week and heads to the top of charts

Well done Kylie on your top 10 hit!

For all you huns out there that SLAGGED Kylie and Padam off. How does it feel?

It tastes sweet to be a Kylie fan right now.

If people don't like her it won't make any difference, what should be noted by everyone is the way this single has been developed, planned and implemented and Kylie and her team have worked the modern chart beautifully and showed no matter who you are, how old you are if you have the right song and the right knowledge of sales, streaming, promotion and airplay you can have a monster hit.

The way they have taken each week individually and released new versions and built it up is a thing of beauty.

Partly true hun, partly

The fact the song went viral is what actually gave it the springboard to begin with

BMG have been good but they are good in chart battles but I think the success of this single caught them off guard because even good songs, promoted well does not gaurentee a hit. You need radio and streaming giants to buy in, which places like capital, spotify, apple etc they have not bought into a Kylie song for a long time.

Its initial success was organic, which then gave BMG the oppertunity. Which they jumped on and then they played their cards well but lets not forget. Without its initial viral impact, this song may have been a top 75 hit and then fall out of the charts.

Indeed TikTok got it going but when it entered at No.26 they allowed it steadily grow, then released the physical copies and extended mix to get it to no.12, also building up airplay and streams, then when it was No.12 they released the cassette singles to take it to No.9.

Now they will be looking for increased streaming to compensate for the inevitable slow decline of the sales with new mixes and the appearance on primetime itv tomorrow night should get to some of the people who still have not heard it yet.

I'm excited and intrigued to see just how much higher it can climb. I wonder if there's now an outside chance of R1 actually playlisting it?!

They did a segment on NewsBeat after the chart about this, they basically dug their heels in and gave their usual bullshit reasons for why they're not - so I'd imagine it's unlikely.

Not that she needs them now, of course!

But you can't please everyone.

That's something UK radio stations, including BBC Radio 1, have been finding out recently.

You might have noticed a lot of tweets criticising them for leaving Kylie's Padam Padam off their playlists - even though the song almost broke into the UK top 10.

In a statement Radio 1 told Newsbeat it considers tracks for its playlist "based on its musical merit and whether it is right for our target audience".

It said it makes decisions on "a case-by-case basis".

Al agrees that it's all about pleasing your target audience.

"Some stations aim younger and it may be the view that Kylie isn't the right artist for that," he says.

"Unfortunately, you're always going to make somebody unhappy with the decisions you make.

"There's only so many hours in a day to play songs."

'Debating the playlist'

Glad to see the "fake" cassettes helped propel Kylie into top 10 well deserved

Do we have sales yet?

For the next week, we'll have the Little Mix loons supporting Leigh-Anne and the Kylie loons, be warned.

I think after a decidedly high-octane couple of weeks, us Kylie fans are now ready to take a back seat and let nature take its course now we've reached the holy grail!

Do we have sales yet?

Not yet but she jumped 5 places from the mids after cassettes were dispatched

Nevertheless blooming fantastic that Padam Padam has gone Top 10 for Kylie Minogue, I think she joins Diana Ross and Cher in having a UK Top 10 hit in five consecutive decades.

Looks like the OCC are getting ahead of themselves a bit on this one...

:teresa:

They have the correct name in the article title itself but it's said Drake on the front page for hours now

Although the article then says that 'Who Told You' has become Drake's 13th top 10 hit... Dave has 12 top 10s so I assume they confused them once again for that stat. :')

Do we have sales yet?

Kylie Minogue has her first Top 10 hit since 2011 and her first solo Top 10 hit since 2010 as Padam Padam advances 12-9. Increasing consumption 24.11% week-on-week to 25,867, it received boosts from the release of an extended version of the track, and a cassette.
