Posted June 22, 20232 yr 4iwHb189X84 UK Chart Run: 61-63-51-39-43-1-1-1-3-4-6-8-12-18-21-21-30-30-36-28-29-34-41-51-68-72 (26 weeks) In what turned out to be a nail-biting and thrilling semi-final round, it ends with Italian Eurodance outfit Eiffel 65 being narrowly eliminated. Formed in 1997, the group exploded onto the music scene in 1999 following the release of this seminal floor-filler. It became the joint-longest running #1 single in the UK of the year after initially charting on imports alone. The track has been sampled countless times since, most significantly taking David Guetta back to #1 last year. Eiffel 65 would only chart once more in the UK with Move Your Body charting at #3 in early 2000. After splitting in 2005, they reformed in 2010 but have yet to release another album. This year, they attempted to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest but were unsuccessful, today I learned! So who will come out on top in this HUGE final to round off our list of 10 winners? Time to decide! Edited July 5, 20231 yr by Dobbo
June 22, 20232 yr Well I guess we could get an upset winner perhaps but I'm going for Brit as I prefer hers personally!
June 22, 20232 yr Britters to win. ATB is still fantastic, but overplay has sorta sullied my enjoyment of it a little.
June 22, 20232 yr ATB to win, and just a reminder that this is the UK hit version that was played here at the time: peqOXTKiJ7w Far superior to the original European version that comes up first if you search on Spotify/YouTube.
June 22, 20232 yr ATB is my winner. It's not even anywhere near my favourite trance track, but the genre is one I love much more than pop and represents what I was listening to in 1999.
June 22, 20232 yr ATB to win please! Another climber in 1999! Clearly they hadn’t got control of the imports thing which highlights how ridiculous holding back releases so Long was even back in those days 🤣
June 23, 20232 yr Britney. That represents some of what I was listening to in 1999, and what was being played in some Gay Clubs as I stepped out onto the clubbing scene for the first time. I was, cough, 41 (but I looked 30, so that's all right then). I'm not one for rushing into things
June 23, 20232 yr Really torn on this one, it's two of my favourites of 1999 though I'd have preferred Eiffel 65. I voted ATB out in the last round when a Britney vote would have taken her level with Eiffel 65, so for that reason alone I've voted ATB to win this time... and created a tie here! :drama:
