'Mourning' hasn't even been in the top 100 since its second week, I don't think 'avoiding ACR' is its concern... :P

If that’s the case, then it should return to the top 40 in August

Biography

According to legend, Glass Animals chose their name by picking two words out of the dictionary at random—but you couldn’t come up with a better combination for a group that toes the line between the pristine and primal. On their 2014 debut, Zaba, the Oxford quartet aligned themselves with a storied lineage of abstract alt-rock—the moody atmospheres of Radiohead, the tropical textures of Animal Collective—but in Dave Bayley, Glass Animals possess an uncommonly smooth singer who could mould those left-field influences into sultry, R&B-flavoured pop songs. While the album made them indie darlings, it also earned the group admirers beyond the typical NME reader—the 2015 single “Lose Control” saw them team up with Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ for a trippy rap track. That sense of anything-goes openness fully flourished on 2016’s How to Be a Human Being, whose procession of freaky, funky anthems and synth-smeared slow jams earned Glass Animals their first Mercury Prize nomination. But after drummer Joe Seaward was nearly killed in a 2018 cycling accident, Glass Animals dialled down the eccentricity for 2020’s Dreamland, a more intimate record that further harmonized the art-rock/club-pop dialectic at the heart of their music. Speaking about the single “Your Love (Déjà Vu)” to Apple Music, Hayley said, “The idea was to take my favourite '90s producers like Timbaland and The Neptunes and the way they used samples, yet record a lot of those sounds in the way The Beatles or Beach Boys might’ve done it... and then taking Beatles and Beach Boys sounds and resampling them as [those producers] might’ve done.” That Dreamland cracked the Top 10 in both the UK and US is a testament to Glass Animals’ gift for melding different styles and eras into the sound of now. - Apple Music

Biography

Anne-Marie’s bold, booming voice has resonated around the world, both as a consummate dance-music collaborator and a brassy pop powerhouse. Born Anne-Marie Nicholson in Essex in 1991, the singer/songwriter never thought she’d make it far beyond her small village, but she was already making waves in London as a child, performing in prestigious West End theatre productions and becoming a karate world champion. Such ambitions undoubtedly helped prepare her for major festival stages—which she’d soon dominate as a rising vocalist in the electronic music world. After being discovered by Elton John’s management company, Rocket Music, in 2013, Anne-Marie lent her skyscraping vocals to tracks by dubstep/DJ supergroup Magnetic Man, garage duo Gorgon City and drum ‘n’ bass hitmakers Rudimental, who invited her to guest on their 2015 album We the Generation and join their extensive world tour. Going forward, she’s been a go-to vocalist and songwriter, pairing up with artists like Snakehips, James Arthur, Nick Jonas, David Guetta and Lauv. But her biggest breakthrough came in 2016 with Clean Bandit, whose single “Rockabye” with dancehall superstar Sean Paul became a multi-platinum global smash, largely thanks to Anne-Marie’s honeyed croons and playful lyrics, which offer an empowering twist on single motherhood. Since releasing her 2018 debut album, Speak Your Mind, the singer has been building up an enviable catalogue of self-love odes (“Perfect to Me”), sassy club bangers (Marshmello collab “FRIENDS”), nostalgic pop love songs (“2002”, co-written with Ed Sheeran) and throbbing coming-of-age anthems (the Doja Cat-featuring “To Be Young”). Even as a solo star, she continues to have no qualms about sharing the spotlight. “I just think collaborations are beautiful,” she told Apple Music. “I don’t think collaborations will ever stop with me.” - Apple Music

Biography

Back in the early 2010s, Durk Banks was just another rapper making his way in Chicago drill, a bleak, diamond-hard variant on trap that channeled the city’s culture of violence into unlikely anthems. Drill—and the label frenzy that surrounded it—faded, but Durk evolved, becoming one of the rare rappers able to make the leap from regional fame to the mainstream without diluting his street appeal. Painful, raw, but eerily pretty, Durk’s music can turn death threats into nursery rhymes (“Die Slow”) and coax shades of suffering from Auto-Tune that make even the slickest productions breathe with vulnerability (“Turn Myself In”). He doesn’t sugarcoat it. But you get the sense he isn’t putting on too much of a show, either. Born in Chicago in 1992, Durk started rapping in his teens, building local popularity through mixtapes before landing on Def Jam in 2012. His debut album, Remember My Name, came out in 2015, followed by Lil Durk 2X. Though he forged his reputation on drill, Durk proved unexpectedly versatile, a rapper who could slip between dead-eyed rawness and Auto-Tuned melodicism, and handle a love song (“India,” “My Beyoncé”) without making it sound like it was a mandate from the label. He left Def Jam in 2018, asserting his independence on a spate of mixtapes before joining Geffen Records with 2020’s Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. - Apple Music

As Heat Waves passes the 3 year threshold this week, OCC need to do the right thing and move it to ACR in next weeks chart

Probably not something that is in the original rules but...

Is it that a song hits ACR at 3 years regardless of what it's doing in the charts?

Imagine how well 'Popular' might be doing if anyone actually liked The Idol... (holding up pretty well anyway, a lot better than 'Double Fantasy' at least - feel like that song deserved better but neither are really up to The Weeknd's usual standard to me).

I do keep having the Playboi Carti part of it stuck in my head though so that's something at least.

Big rise for 'UNHEALTHY', actually wouldn't mind this one becoming a biggish hit.

Biography

In a 2019 interview with Apple Music, Harry Styles shared a memory from the early days of One Direction. They were in the studio in Sweden working on “What Makes You Beautiful”. First single, the rollercoaster train just starting to climb the track. Someone comes into the room and says there are a couple of girls outside. Why? the band asks. They’re looking for you guys. For One Direction. “And we’re all just like, ‘But we’re in Sweden!’”

Ah, the old, “who…us?” routine. Harry! Incorrigibly charming, dreamboat for starry-eyed youth the world over. And, as it turns out, a legitimate force in pop, the kind of artist who could bridge contemporary appeal with classic values in ways that felt fresh but familiar, universal.

Part of what had made One Direction so great was that they never shied away from the pleasures of boy-band pop, but never patronised their audiences or fell back on gimmicks, either: Never mind the no-dancing policy; they were writing songs, exploring music as something beyond the show. In his solo career, Styles (born 1994, in Redditch, England) has done much the same, combining soul (“Watermelon Sugar”), confessional soft rock (“Sign of the Times”) and psychedelia (“Sunflower, Vol. 6”) with a modern touch, summarising where pop has been while also pushing it forward. “I’m just trying to go through life being a little less worried about stuff,” he said. “Definitely with working. Because ultimately, it’ll be okay.” He had a busy five years there. But he’s got a lifetime ahead of him. - Apple Music

Biography

Nathan Dawe

BRIT-nominated DJ/producer Nathan Dawe is one of the UK’s biggest breakout dance acts of the last five years. Buoyed by a huge fan base in Birmingham and the Midlands, Nathan’s regional transmits nationwide – as evidenced by a series of standout UK Top 10 singles. From BRIT-nominated UK #3 single ‘Lighter’ ft. KSI to 2022’s UK #9 summer anthem ’21 Reasons’ ft. Ella Henderson, Nathan has established himself as a bonafide and definitive artist. Further collaborations with everyone from Little Mix to Anne-Marie to fellow Midlander, Bru-C, on latest single ‘Oh Baby’ ft. bshp & Issey Cross, also continue to showcase his fluid and versatile approach to music-making. If that wasn’t enough, Nathan has also earned a host of different accolades over the last three years. In January 2021, he was crowned MTV’s Push Artist for 2021 for example, holding off competition from the likes of Griff, Arlo Parks and Pa Salieu, and was later also made an official ambassador of Aston Villa FC’s Academy – the football team he’s supported since he was a boy. Nathan also held down his debut residency at Ibiza Rocks in 2021 – he’s already booked in for a third consecutive slot for summer 2023 – and enjoyed his busiest year of touring yet in 2022, playing festivals including Creamfields, We Are FSTVL, Pierjam, Bassfest and Boardmasters, as well as a host of bustling club dates across Europe. - Spotify

Joel Corry

“Back Again” might seem like a strange title for a debut single, but not for Joel Corry: When the British DJ/producer dropped his first record in 2015, he was already well known to UK audiences from his appearances on the MTV reality show Geordie Shore. While that program captured its cast members’ romantic misadventures with tongue firmly in cheek, Corry has treated his musical career with far more seriousness, faithfully updating the sounds of classic house with a sleek contemporary touch. Born in London in 1989, Corry was just a boy when the slinky sounds of UK garage catapulted underground dance music into British pop around the turn of the millennium, but he brings the same crossover spirit to his own productions. While 2015’s “Back Again” and “Light It Up” flirted with big-room EDM, Corry looked to the past for his breakout hit, a 2019 cover of Monsta Boy’s 2000 UK garage classic “Sorry” that paired soulful vocals with crisp, jittery drum programming. He’s pursued a similar approach on subsequent singles like “Lonely” and “Head & Heart”, updating the piano chords and organ stabs of ’90s dance pop with 21st-century production values. While Corry’s timeless hooks are perfect for radio, he’s careful to always have something special for the dance floor. As he told Apple Music: “With all my records I like to do my own VIP mix”—that is, a club-ready version that’s a little tougher and heavier. With reality TV in the rearview, these days Corry’s simply keeping it real. - Apple Music

Ella Henderson

Bursting on to the scene in 2014, at just 18-years-old Ella Henderson went on to achieve global success with her debut single, ‘Ghost.’ Co-written with Ryan Tedder, the song became the fastest-selling debut single from any British Artist in 2014. That same year, Ella’s debut album, ‘Chapter One,’ (Salaam Remi, Babyface, Steve Mac, TMS) spawned her first Platinum selling album, making her one of only 3 UK artists to break Platinum in 2014. A revered artist, in 2015 Ella received two prestigious BRIT Award nominations for 'Best British Female' and 'Best British Single', rounding off the year with a landmark sell-out UK headline tour, which included two shows at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Following a whirlwind few years, Ella returned to the studio to being work on her next project. During the process she continued to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music, appearing on hits produced by superstar DJ’s Kygo and Sigma. She also returned to the live stage, touring with the likes of Take That, James Arthur and Rudimental, the latter of whom signed her to a new record deal with their label Major Toms/Asylum. For Ella, this marked a brand new start. “I want it to be fresh,” says the 23-year-old. “The industry's changed so drastically since I last released music over four years ago. I want to embrace that. I want to treat everything like it's a clean slate.” - Spotify

Probably not something that is in the original rules but...

Is it that a song hits ACR at 3 years regardless of what it's doing in the charts?

Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' kept going for a while on SCR after hitting 3 years old but was then randomly shunted to ACR eventually. But then Ghost's 'Mary On A Cross' was put on ACR a bit early as it crossed the 3 year mark while in the chart. I don't think there's enough precedent to accurately predict what will happen with 'Heat Waves' but fingers crossed it'll be banished to permanent ACR sooner rather than later.
