June 26, 20232 yr Wow Addy maybe in contention for a second win in a row, PFSC all over again! (I really didn't get much from this Saint Etienne song sorry, but I am clearly on my own on that...)
June 26, 20232 yr Thanks Addy! And what a tune for the ages Saint Etienne's Only Love Can Break Your Heart is
June 26, 20232 yr Thanks Rollo, and an excellent entry from you  I may or may not have heard the Jakatta version that was a top 10 in 2002 but it didn't really ring a bell to me so I'll consider it a discovery anyway.
June 26, 20232 yr I didn't know about the Jakatta song so the Monsoon chorus is more well known on here than I thought it was.
June 26, 20232 yr Author And I have a reason to do this at the end but here are the last 4 votes. First up is Wardy. He sent Swedish band The Cardigans and their third single Sick And Tired taken from their debut album Emmerdale. Here we go Addy and thank you for this wonderful theme! I wish I could have picked a better entry but never mind. +12 Saint Etienne - Only Love Can Break Your Heart +10 The Grid - Floatation +8 Monsoon - Ever So Lonely +7 Portishead - Roads +6 Olive - Miracle +5 Ozean - Scenic +4 Nena - Nur Geträumt +3 Total Touch - Touch Me There +2 Bõa - Duvet +1 Belly - GepettoSecond up is Jester. They're behind Portishead and their trip hop single Roads. They were leading earlier this evening. Hello 12 - Olive - Miracle 10 - Saint Etienne - Only Love Can Break Your Heart 08 - Texas - Tell me The Answer 07 - The Cardigans - Sick & Tired 06 - Cocteau Twins - Iceblink Luck 05 - Shakespeare’s Sister - My 16th Apology 04 - All About Eve - Flowers in Our Hair 03 - Monsoon - Ever So Lonely 02 - Heart - Barracuda 01 - Collide - Violet's Dance Thanks! Moving up is Gooddelta. He sent dutch band Total Touch and their single 'Touch Me There' (which apparently I sent the same song (different artist) in BJSC spin off Reinvention edition like 5-6 years ago :kink:). 12 Points: Nena - Nur Geträumt 10 Points: Shakespear’s Sister - My 16th Apology 8 Points: Texas - Tell me The Answer 7 Points The Cardigans - Sick & Tired 6 Points: Bõa - Duvet 5 Points: Saint Etienne - Only Love Can Break Your Heart 4 Points: Cocteau Twins - Iceblink Luck 3 Points: The Grid - Floatation 2 Points: Ozean - Scenic 1 Point: Olive - MiracleAnd lastly is Dan...he sent trip hop duo Olive famous for their single 'You're Not Alone'. Miracle was their first ever single released and it even got re-released after smashing with 'You're Not Alone' but it didn't do much in the charts. +12 Saint Etienne - Only Love Can Break Your Heart +10 Total Touch - Touch Me There +08 Saâda Bonaire - You Could Be More As You Are +07 Portishead - Roads +06 Nena - Nur Geträumt +05 The Grid - Floatation +04 Blondie - X Offender +03 Collide - Violet's Dance +02 Monsoon - Ever So Lonely +01 Heart - Barracuda

June 26, 20232 yr Thank you Rollo, Jester and Dan! I think my top 10 streak has swiftly come to an end but this has still done a bit better than I was expecting.
June 26, 20232 yr Whoops, completely forgot about that Sharon Doorson version of Touch Me There that was sent to Reinvention! :o I did last year by another Dutch female DJ, Kim Kaey, which was in my end of year top 10, but never did get round to sending it in the end, so figured I'd just send the original to this as it's a 90s piano house banger. But maybe I wouldn't have been allowed it in BJSC anyway as it was a cover of a spin-off entry!
June 26, 20232 yr Wow congrats Addy on a double win :cheeseblock: my top 3 were: Portishead, Monsoon and Saint Etienne, so matching the official medallists albeit in the opposite order! Thank you very much for hosting this <3
June 26, 20232 yr Great top 3, even if I’d have put them in reverse order myself! Congratulations Addy and thanks for hosting, and Rollo and Jester for the podium places.
June 26, 20232 yr Gosh I didn't expect to be in the top ten there, as the votes seemed so alternative leaning. Thanks to the voters! Happy to see Nena top 10 too but it deserved better! Well done again Addy, and thanks for great hosting! The Saint Etienne track is a bonafide 90s classic, I did expect it to win this. Good that nobody finished on zero!
June 26, 20232 yr Thank you Wardy, Dan and especially Rich for the 12 *.* pleased I managed to recive one of those tonight. and fantastic that my 12 pointer won :cheer: and 10 pointer also in 2nd :cheer: I'm relieved to have crawled up throughout the results and manage 7th in the end. I was really starting to question things really without tooting my own horn as I think it's fantastic myself and Nena is someone I should look into more songs by as well outside of this and '99 Balloons'! (Oh and a 2020 song of hers lol). Thanks Addy for the great hosting and a mostly great quality contest!
June 26, 20232 yr Back to back wins *.* Go Addy! A great selection of songs from everyone, I liked them all really
June 26, 20232 yr Author And that's a wrap!!! So I had to mix up the order because Saint Etienne was leading almost 90% of the time and the reveal wouldn't be exciting if I went with the order of votes I received...Basically Saint Etienne got votes from everyone except Brer and Cow P, so I hope you all understand I did what I did in the end...and I swear I just shuffled things around as I was presenting results. Thank you everyone for participating in this contest, I will definitely not host next one lol and looking forward to King Rollo hosting :).
June 26, 20232 yr Thanks Dan. Happy to end up in 5th, or joint 5th with Ansel as his song was my favourite discovery of the contest. Congratulations Addy for a second win in a row :cheer: an easy 12 from me, great to see my 10 pointer also made the podium. Thank you for hosting!
June 26, 20232 yr Congratulations Addy on another win! I did think St Etienne would appeal to the pop, indie and dance fans. And thanks for a wonderful hosting job from start to finish. I'm really pleased with 2nd place, thanks to everyone who gave points to Monsoon.
June 26, 20232 yr A truly brilliant top two. Ever So Lonely has been on my potential BJSC list for ages.
June 26, 20232 yr Congrats to Addy once again! *.* Can't complain about that winner despite how well-known it is, a slow-burning classic, very pleased that my own top 3 remained the top 3 in a different order and The Grid and Saada in the top 10 are great to see too. Argh, 11th and just one point off the top 10 is just a tad annoying  :drama: (and after just scraping in at 10th last time so I guess a pattern's emerging) but that's respectable though for such a little-known song and I'm pleased that some of you made a good discovery out of it, thanks very much for the votes <3 Great hosting Addy and another great contest here, looking forward to whatever the next one may be!
June 26, 20232 yr Well congrats Addy, can't really argue with another very convincing win there! I've given the song another listen to try and see what I was missing with it and it still sounds quite boring to me oops (and I hadn't heard it before despite multiple people calling it a well known classic x) but don't let my contrarianism get you down  at least I did like your previous winner  Even if it didn't end up being the winner (or particularly close), it is great to see Jester getting a much better result this time, I remember him saying he might stop entering these after his previous result so very happy he did stick around after all. A gorgeous song as Portishead are known to churn out. 2nd and 3rd in the end matched 2nd and 3rd in my own votes! Also happy to see The Grid in the top 5 + Saâda Bonaire and Siouxsie And The Banshees top 10 (Saâda Bonaire in particular having a really nice result for a more obscure entry (edit: especially if they win the tiebreak to be top 5, didn't notice that was a tie)). All About Eve deserved a lot better but I did notice I was more enthusiastic about that than most people on SyncTube so I'm just out of the loop in general this month it seems :D Yay for me going up in the world from bottom 3 to bottom 5  maybe one day I'll send something a bit less leftfield to one of these but I'll take that + my best scoring entry to date for now. Thanks for hosting Addy, and I guess maybe looking forward to you hosting again in a few months :magic:
