Ohhhh just figured out a feature Iøm gonna love, they have Album chart runs!!!! which was something difficult to find for me at least

The old site had album chart runs though. Did you mean something more specific such as physicals or sales chart runs?

Overall I'm happy with the changes. The biggest bonus, as mentioned, is that there's chart runs for every chart there is. For instance it's great to be able to see any "Physical Singles chart run". Prior to now, you would've had to go through every week of charts and compile the chart run yourself.

 

There's even some quite old data available, for instance I discovered that you can now see Vinyl Album and Single chart runs from 1994 onwards (I noticed this via the Spice Girls page, of course x). Despite these chart runs being viewable, the actual weekly vinyl album / singles charts aren't published, unfortunately. So if you click a position from the 'Spice' vinyl album chart run from 1996, it doesn't show a full vinyl chart from that particular week, it just leads to a page saying that "you are not authorized to access this page." Horrible update and basically unusable on a phone! I see they are still fans of pop ups every 30 seconds too - hard pass.

For the Music DVD charts it says,

 

"The data displayed for this chart goes back to 1994, however we hope to be able to offer deeper historic information at a future point".

 

That sounds interesting. Will it be extended to other charts?

 

The pictures for album covers are not always available, just a standard logo.

Looks to be easier to navigate but the size iof the text needs sorting - much too large!

 

And looking at chart histories section for Shakin' Stevens they have his 2005 release The Collection as having spent 2 weeks in the chart peaking at number 22... in the Official Hip Hop and R&B Albums Chart. I don't think so!

 

Plus 2 weeks in the Top 10 of the Official Jazz & Blues Albums Chart..

I do wish they had an app but I think I like this update the more I’ve looked.

 

It’s easier to compare chart runs on the official charts to the sales, download charts etc.

 

Very interesting to see stats for albums on physical / download charts to official charts too for more recent albums.

 

On another note I hope this change means it’s available on any browser the old OCC page I could only fully access using Edge.

 

The actual “look” may take some getting used too. The constant ads too which didn’t seem to happen that often for me anyways on the old site.

Just having some time to look at the new website, the interface will for sure take some time to get used to; I used to like how compact the charts were, now you can only see a few entries at once without zooming in which is slightly annoying. Also as someone mentioned above, re-entries being shown as new entries is incredibly unhelpful and I hope they'll fix that. All the chart runs and peaks for each chart is the best thing to come from this though, and i'm sure we'll get used to everything else. I do hate this new chart menu looking like it's the homepage of Deezer or something?!

They seriously need to consider reducing some text sizes. I only just about see 6 songs at a time on my laptop screen. With the old layout I'm sure it was more than double that amount. The artworks don't need to be as large as they are. Going from 60x60 pixels to 80x80 makes quite a difference!

I think having the chart run for every chart and having that on the artist page, puts the Official Charts in the front for best chart website, but yea the text is too big, they got rid of the labels which I'm fine with but could've been a help to some, the boxes for the chart run are of different width now, and it's way harder to copy and paste now, I liked it as a neat table, I appreciate the new info but like the old design, I hope that the Weeks Top 100/200 issue gets fixed, if it expands to top 200 now that'd be neat

I think it only includes the weeks Top 200 in those totals if the song charted when the official Top 200 existed, which it hasn't done for several years.

For some reason, album chart runs are separated after the 04/05/23 chart, suggesting they're re-entries when they're not.

 

For instances, this is the chart run for 'Trustfall' by P!nk:

I’m sure there’ll some some adjustments and some fixes to certain things. I noticed that about chart runs though which looked a bit odd.

 

I noticed the 200 weeks chart run showing for albums within the top 100 as well which threw me a little because it doesn’t yet show on individual artists page and the chart runs are still just a top 100.

 

It’ll take some getting used to but I like aspects of the new look.

It’s actually a fail from me; and it’s looks horrible on my mobile phone. I’m there for the charts (I like a snapshot chart the best) and hate having to scroll. It feels like a step back and I’m not loving it at all. Perhaps it will be better on my pc.
