July 5, 20232 yr THIS IS IT released 30 Years ago !!! Wow 🤩 😮 Such an anthem :cheeseblock: I was so here for it at the time and thought Dannii would be reinstated to chart hits again and then they followed it up with ‘This Is The Way’ :nocheer:
July 5, 20232 yr Aw, I think 'This is the Way' is quite underrated! Particularly the extended mix, glorious.
July 5, 20232 yr Yeah, I think out of everything she had on hand at that moment, This Is The Way is probably the most logical follow up - I certainly think it deserved a stronger chart run than 27-38-63-OUT.
July 5, 20232 yr This Is It - This Is The Way… almost identical titles didn’t help as a follow up. True - I have no idea why they didn't just rename the song into something like The Way Love's Supposed To Be or something, or maybe they thought the similar titles would help?! But from memory This Is The Way got next to no airplay, so it just seems like radio stations saw This Is It as a one-off unfortunately.
July 5, 20232 yr Author This Is It didn't even make top 40 on the radio chart. It was probably a surprise hit, but it did have great promo including two TOTP performances. TITW was the logical follow up but i am not sure i have seen one promo slot in the UK, interview or performance.
July 5, 20232 yr I love this is it, the first dannii song I actually liked and it did well at the time and reversed her chart fortunes. To this day its still in my top 3 dannii songs.
July 5, 20232 yr If she had more songs like this is it vocal wise, she would have been on her way. I remember everyone going wow she can actually sing. Another era butchered sadly.
July 6, 20232 yr Big highlight from Dannii's pre-1997 music! The first two singles from the album don't really hit the mark for me; clearly a more joyful, fun-loving sound is what the public were wanting from Dannii (it being a cover probably helped too). A shame the return to success couldn't last longer than one single but I'm not sure what else could have been a hit if 'This is the Way' couldn't. It's frustrating Dannii's YouTube is a complete mess with 'This is It' not even having an official upload! ixzmRaYQk8E 2BkYJ5g8kE4 CLw3w5TaRAY

I agree about the vocal , certainly one of her best! We have Terry Ronald on vocal production here. Whom went on to wrote and produce many tracks and write her book! Tbf tho she does sing her butt of on TITW too!
July 6, 20232 yr I think sound wise this is it seemed to the style people wanted more of from Dannii but it didn't happen. This is it and all I wanna do were 2 times you just thought things were really taking off for Dannii but the follow ups just never performed as well.
July 6, 20232 yr I felt at the time, the Kylie-fatigue sort of had rubbed off on people’s perception and interest in dannii too which is why this era wasn’t the most successful. I loved “This is it” back then but sounds dated now
July 6, 20232 yr Author The video montage is cute ☺️ Thread upgrade thanks Liam. Edited July 6, 20232 yr by vibe

I loved “This is it” back then but sounds dated now I think at this time aswell the press were really pitting them against each other and trying to make people they didnt get on.
July 6, 20232 yr This Is It was Dannii's best single ever! Yep... even better than all those dance songs.
July 7, 20232 yr This Is It was Dannii's best single ever! Yep... even better than all those dance songs. *.* I mean it’s good but AIWD reigns supreme for me along with most of the NN singles but for it’s time TII was an epic choice and great pop track.
July 7, 20232 yr Wow can't believe its been 30 years, I feel so old. Not surprising that this was the only successful hit from the 'Get Into You' era, coz looking at the other singles this was only one that screamed hit to me. Dunno who thought it was a good idea to release 'Show You The Way To Go' as the lead single as that was very weak & releasing 'Love's On Every Corner' during the X-Mas period, it got lost in the shuffle & may have stood a better chance if released a month sooner or hell even in the new year.
July 7, 20232 yr Obviously I was too young to remember it being released, I only heard the song for the first time in 2003
