Another second place finish, but this time a new personal best in Club Bizarre, takes me to 15 podium finishes in total, and establishes 2nd place as my most frequent finishing position outright with 8 of them(!), leaving "DNQ" in second place with 7, and 16th in third with 6 having finished there again in BJSC 186.

A very pleasing sixth top 10 hit, albeit with an unusually top heavy vote distribution as, despite attracting a modest 18 voters, Isabel received an average of 11.5 points per voter - my highest ratio to date by some distance! Indeed it's my first entry to receive multiples of each medal, and it received multiple 12s and 11s too. More evidence of there being support for ballads in BJSC, and a number of commiserations suggest it wasn't quite as polarising as these votes might portray.

Divorce - Lord

Another act make their BJSC debut with a song I charted last year, in this case a slow-burn climb from #33 to #5 over 8 weeks - hope it can be a grower to many in this contest too! Divorce were a four-piece band when its parent album was released and landed just short of the Top 40 - perhaps appropriately for their name, they have since been reduced to a duo, however this bonkers video is one of their mementos as a quartet.

I did fear that as this had been a slow burner for me originally, it could be a qualification risk. I'm still somewhat puzzled as to how this tanked quite so heavily, but there wasn't much love on show for it. Although it managed a higher score than 'Do The Strand' in its semi final, it has led to some unwanted milestones - my lowest semi final position of 28th, the first time I've had three DNQs in the same year, and at 14 contests this is now the longest time without a top 5 hit during my BJSC participation.
