34 is a huge shock for me as its one i expected the fans to rank far far higher, i know a poll like this would have some casual voters who would vote for more well known songs but i still expected much higher for number 34 thats probably the biggest shock among the results.

With the IP singles im happy with how the result panned out.

Nice to see songs like all i wanna do by Kylie and Jason and made in heaven get played as i actually love both those songs.

I know #2 is a key song in her career, but it really has no business being that high. #12 and #28 also being that high is :manson:

How is #35 even there, especially being in anybody's consciousness at this time of year

Overall it's a decent list I think, represents her really quite well! Gutted 'Did It Again' doesn't feature at all though

Not happy Finer Feelings, Stop Me From Falling, Golden, not listed

Real Groove didn't make it!

I guess it was a casuals vote rather than her big fans.

What I really would love is a 2 hour special on TV with a top 40 countdown of her best videos

Good to see Padam Padam is 6

I guess also it was ultimately a Radio 2 listener vote.

Staying out of this thread now so I don’t see any spoilers until the full radio rundown.

I agree about number 2 far to high wouldn't be top 20 for me but I do see how it may have got so many votes.

40-30

No real surprises , one of my absolutely faves here but a good mix of songs from many albums!

30-20

For my personal taste i preferred the songs ranked 40-30! 2 overrated jarring songs feature here for me! Still no surprises but does contain one of my absolute favourites!

20-10

Opens with another overrated jarring song. Features some of her best and some tracks that wouldn’t be this high for me. Was surprised that one of the tracks here was not in the top 10!

10-1

No complaints, mix of fan favourites and wider public classics!!

Learning Points

* didnt know OAANLT was a cover

* i had no idea Kylie and Jason had another duet that samples a tune from Grease!!! 😳😳😳😳

* One of my absolute favourites didn’t make the top 40 :(

I welcome her early work not getting overlooked.

The countdown strongly represents the diversity of Kylie's 35 years in the industry.

Same lol planning to listen to it next week. Judging by the sounds of it some unexpected songs placing lower or higher than they should really be!

Many songs on the countdown are placed where many would expect them.

There are around 10 songs that don't fall into this category.

There is one of her number 2 hits I never expected it would be in it its not a bad song at all but not one that I thought many would vote for.

Did it again - the only Decon song that didn’t make it!

If you were with me now - such a shame this wasn’t included!!

In my arms - I’m surprised this doesn’t feature. It’s not my favourite but I thought it had a big following?

Into the blue - Should have made the T10. Better than some of the tracks that were included.

Padam padam no6? Not one of my favourites at all and surprised it’s so high as it just doesn’t come close to many Kylie classics

Where is The Feeling is also a Decon release and is not on the list so Did It Again is not alone.

Both are songs I would not place on the countdown and think the outcome for both songs is correct.

Into The Blue

Chocolate

Finer Feelings

In My Arms

Flower

Skirt

All missing.

It shows the BBC Radio 2 viewer is more of an older, casual fan I would say. Have we done a similar Buzzjack vote?

Did It Again, Giving You Up, Word is Out, If You Were With Me Now also

Aghast at 'In My Arms' missing but 'Wow' and '2 Hearts' making it :arrr:

Wow is a classic. Its longevity is great.

2 Hearts is a strange one. I just don't like it and a poor 1st song choice off X

Did It Again not making it was a huge surprise, considering the other singles did from the album!

I think DIA sold the most?

My original post was keeping it spoiler free!

It doesn't - it just has that vibe to it.

Golden

Skirt

... weren't Top 100 hits, therefore not in the list of songs to be voted for.

I've updated the thread title to show that the thread will contain spoilers... for those who want to wait to hear it on BBC Radio 2 in a few days, it might be best to avoid this thread until then!

Spoiler warning... this post contains the full Top 40. Don't scroll down if you don't want to see it...

My comments on some of the songs that didn't make it...

I'm so surprised that out of the Impossible Princess singles, Did It Again is the one that didn't make it. I was under the impression that it's way more popular with fans than Some Kind of Bliss, which did make it into the countdown. Did some fans want justice for Some Kind of Bliss, perhaps? Did It Again has a very memorable music video! A shame it isn't in the countdown.

As the countdown got closer to the top end, I was concerned that Higher was still going to appear... but it didn't even make the Top 40, despite being one of her biggest hits over the past 15 years. Not mad about that x

Poor Into the Blue :( I'm not surprised, but it deserves more love. Likewise I wasn't expecting Please Stay to make it, but I have a soft spot for it.

I think the biggest shock for me is In My Arms not being in the Top 40?

and now my comments about the Top 40...

Firstly, justice for Say Something! I felt appalled when Santa Baby started playing directly after it! :drama:

I'm sure The One would be higher up in my rank, but I was just happy it made it.

Got to Be Certain quite low compared to other 80s hits! :o

Honestly didn't think Tears on My Pillow would be Top 40 so what a surprise when it started playing. I honestly don't mind the song... but too high up for my liking.

I thought Wow would be higher as it comes across to me as one of the most remembered Parlophone era singles - but perhaps not? Admittedly it's one that the public seemed to love and the hardcore fans weren't that into.

I was so happy to hear Put Yourself in My Place feature.

In Your Eyes and I Believe in You both too low!

The countdown played an unusual mix of Slow... it had the Extended Mix's intro and then after that it just seemed like the normal version, so it wasn't actually the Extended Mix being played as such. A hybrid of the two.

Kids too high for me but honestly surprised it wasn't Top 10, the GP seems to adore it.

Love at First Sight missing the Top 10... criminal! I would have assumed it would place higher than On a Night Like This. Both huge fan faves for sure but the former seems slightly more well liked? Well, not in this countdown!

Her very first single in the UK being followed by her most recent single *_* Wow at Padam Padam making it to 6th! I have to wonder, if this countdown was done again in say 10 years time, whether Padam Padam would hold up.

It's a pretty bulletproof Top 5. A couple of them wouldn't be in mine but I completely understand why they're there.

Spinning Around was of course a majorly important moment in Kylie's career, with its status of being the comeback #1, reviving Kylie's career. However its chart run and sales weren't actually all that impressive. Out of 42 #1 hits in 2000, it was the 32nd best selling of those. Overall, Spinning Around was the 46th best seller of 2000 with 245,000... just behind Five/Queen - We Will Rock You (245k) and ahead of Billie Piper - Day & Night (243k). It feels surprising that Spinning Around was on par with those singles (no shade, Day & Night is a bop - but not well remembered these days). Of course it helps that Kylie continued to be a popstar for the past 23 years whereas Billie's music career ended in 2000. :kink: I guess things such as the golden hotpants that interviewers love to bring up to this day have helped Spinning Around go down as one of Kylie's most remembered singles. I do love it, but it wouldn't be 2nd for me.

Can't argue with Can't Get You Out of My Head being 1st, a sensational moment.

*SPOILERS*

So the songs I voted for ended up in these positions:

01 Can't Get You Out of My Head

04 Confide In Me

05 All The Lovers

11 Love At First Sight

14 Slow

'Love At First Sight' is too low but pretty good going for the rest, as 'Slow' feels like a bit of a forgotten #1 unfortunately. My most positive surprise on the whole is 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' finishing in the top 10 as that wasn't very far off my votes at all, a really unique moment in her discography. On the flip side, 'Tears On My Pillow' has no business being that high! :P and the lush 'Chocolate' is quite high up in my affections, so a shame that didn't place at all!

Where is The Feeling is also a Decon release and is not on the list so Did It Again is not alone.

Both are songs I would not place on the countdown and think the outcome for both songs is correct.

Ah I forgot about where is the feeling. It’s not a great song so hardly surprising it doesn’t feature.
