Posted July 30, 20231 yr The original 'Hoppípolla' peaked at #35 in 2006 and the reworking 'Poppiholla' peaked at #7 in 2009? Added poll for voting bases but what are your opinions on both songs? Do you like one, both or neither? Thought it was an interesting one to discuss as Chicane's did much better chart wise. mZTb8WxEW78 gfZkdthPOTA
July 30, 20231 yr Ooh ok, well both are good in their own way, but the original by Sigur Rós is better for me.
July 30, 20231 yr Both are great but out of the two I do prefer 'Hoppípolla' by Sigur Rós, an absolute stunner
July 30, 20231 yr Absolutely love both and two of my favourite songs of the 2000s, the rare instance where a dance remake really works. Hoppipolla is better though as it's such a unique and beautiful surprise hit and impeccably composed, it always brings a tear to my eye  Both videos are really good too which I never thought about - both twisting stereotypes and showing some really inspiring elements of human nature.
July 30, 20231 yr Author I like both personally and went for that option only as I'm not sure if I prefer one over the other and yes definitely one for emotions in a teary happy kinda way. Sigur I did discover after Chicane's though shamefully :kink: although I'm pretty sure I checked it out the week 'Poppiholla' was charting. Both versions are wonderful though.
July 31, 20231 yr The Chicane version was never going to top the original but it's still very good by dance remake standards.
July 31, 20231 yr Sigur Rós although the Chicane version is decent too. Incidentally the video for the latter appears to base itself on the Guardian's 'Points of view' advert from 1986:
