(I don't doubt that it's possible you might have genuinely never heard it at all though, like Foxes said rap music in general is more insular and easy to avoid than big pop and dance hits. Even then though, I'm sure there are plenty of people who have never heard songs like 'Anti-Hero' or 'Flowers' because of the ease of staying in the opposite bubble, and probably even more people who only listen to older music and won't have ever heard any of these songs)

 

Aside though: I typed up my last post about this while I was walking home and literally like 20 minutes after I posted I walked past a group of kids who were rapping the lyrics to it :lol:

Looking like Miley could be safe for a decent sized hit then, if not the huge #1 a lot were predicting.

I don't hate it, it's just quite meh. I'm still rooting for Doja to get an overdue #1 but I think it's another DTN case where people feel it's lesser than her big hits that didn't get to the top.

I don't get the Attention love myself, the production was cool but the verses were so uninteresting and Doja's delivery sounded bored. Paint the Town Red isn't a Doja highlight either for me (I don't care how much she hates Say So, it's by far and away my fave still), but it's more memorable and interesting than Attention for me.

Both are great and looking forward to her next release Demons.

 

She is not my favourite person in the music biz but she has that undeniable star power.

I think it’s an interesting observation because it shows that some people don’t hear all number ones any more like they used to!

Doja is now #1 on Apple Music as well.

Is that zach Bryan/ Kacey Musgraves song doing anything here? I know it’s doing huge things in the us. Out of all the country songs being big here it should be that one, such a gorgeous song!

It was #134 on Spotify on day 1 but dropped out straight away and hasn't re-entered.

 

(it is up to a new peak of #20 on Irish Spotify today though for what it's worth, and also holding at its peaks to date in Australia and New Zealand. Holding up very well so far in the US so wouldn't be too surprising if it does become fairly big here eventually too)

I've been to Spain a lot in recent years and I found English music was played a lot there. I even heard things like The Freemasons and Alexandra Burke and the like which wasn't even big in the US. In fact I heard quite little Spanish music at all.

 

It perplexes me because their charts suggest completely different, although my suspicions are that the public places just play English music in tourist destinations (and maybe all those towns full of retired English people) to attract customers but probably not in the rest of the country.

 

*I know someone is probably about to type the usual "Just because 1 bar you went to played English music it doesn't mean..." tripe you get on here sometimes, so I guess I will have to specify that I've probably been in 10+ towns for a combined total of 6+ months*

I'm local in Spain, so no tourists, no English music, only songs in Spanish

Spotify reflects perfectly what people like in Spain

my friends and family that live there, my nieces only listen to music in Spanish

they know all this rap songs in Spanish, they know all the lyrics by heart

but they cannot do the same with English songs cos nobody speaks English so...
