Celine Dion :cheeseblock:

I don’t know any of these songs so interested to find out what vibe everyone went for

EDIT: cheeseblock

I recognise Zanmatony, Bronzil and Scotland 2's from a quick look! Nice to see Sofia Kourtesis turning up in a song contest. <3
Starting off the contest :drama: think the only song I know here is Todo De Ti, I almost sent a different Rauw song myself!
How many unique languages are there here?
République d‘Áskorza

Mine was one of the biggest songs of the 90s in South America with a cool 138m Spotify streams, by Mexican singer Fey. It's such a crisp, feelgood Latin meets Europop (D:Ream meets Gina G kind of) sound, I can't believe they didn't push it in Europe!

Very excited to get into these, there were so many songs I could have sent here.

Céline Dion??

Yes, Céline Dion. I am one of the (few?) people that do not care much for her English catalogue, but I LOVE her French recordings. So when this round come up, I chose to enter an early recording by Céline. I hope you all will enjoy it, and I am looking forward to diving into the other entries!

Something i have been toying with entering for ages. I just love it so much

Céline Dion??

I absolutely love Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore.

I think these are the languages present, forgive me if I made any false assumptions x

8x Spanish (Pestolia, Zanmatony, Lotunia, Beaverdonia, Jadakissnia, Scotland 2, Quintessa, FSR Rontvia)

7x French (Lookylion, Terra Avium, Aeroche, The Spodic Empire, Danæviia, Bøtanikkä, Skall)

2x Japanese (Séyetana, Aesthetica)

And 1 each of:

Croatian (Cor Lupus)

Finnish (Hendinia)

German (République d'Áskorza)

Hebrew (POPHub)

Indonesian (Eastovka)

Italian (Bronzil)

Lingala (Sovarasma)

Swedish (Altyr Muunilinst)

Tamasheq (Persephonia)

Turkish (Abeltesfayeton)

Ukrainian (Thelonia)

made up language* (Jupiterdonia)

*I can't find a source for this particular song but apparently many of Lisa Gerrard's songs are not in any real language

No surprise at the Spanish/French domination I suppose but a little surprising there's only one other language that has more than one appearance. Glad I'm not the only one going for an African language B-) hoping at least a couple of people will enjoy this song as it's one I've come back to over and over again for years, entrancing Malian desert blues rock ~ Tinariwen are actually fairly mainstream by the standards of Persephonia artists (they've had a handful of low charting albums in the UK) but they've never really been discussed on the forum so I guess they'll likely still be new to most people.

I think there are 4 songs here I've heard already and most of those were from the PopJustice Song Contest - think I remember liking the Claire Laffut song there. Though the one I am most familiar with is 'Todo De Ti' because it was a fairly big hit in the US, would probably be vetoed from the main contest but fair for a spinoff I guess, it is a banger anyway. (if I'm allowed to continue supporting him while stanning ROSALÍA xx)

I've been quite a big fan of Altın Gün since discovering them via a previous Terra Avium entry but not heard this song from them yet (as I continue to have failed to keep up with new music this year oop) so looking forward to that one, Nate coming through with the eclectic taste. Also sent Thylacine myself to Unknown Pleasures before and generally enjoyed his other stuff since then so intrigue for that too!
