I think we can say the last three albums have had cracking lead singles and cracking follow ups aswell but what's your fave and least fave of the 2nd singles from the BMG albums.

It's just reverse order for me! Tension is best, then Magic, and Stop Me From Falling is last (overall I don't really return to Golden).

Easy one for me, very distinctively:

1. Tension — 10/10

2. SMFF — 8,5/10

3. Magic — 5/10 — I really don’t feel that song at all.

1. Magic 10/10

2. Stop me from falling 8/10

3. Tension 2/10

Tension for me, stop me from falling is one that has grown on me a lot in the last 2 years. I love it way more now than when it was released, magic is very good but I prefer a good few other songs on disco to it.
Magic best, SMFF worst….but that’s cruel because all three are excellent songs.

I thought stop me from falling would easily out do magic here as SMFF was always hugely popular here but to fair all 3 songs are great.
All 3 of these are amazing & it was between 'Tension' & 'Magic' but went with the former.

1. Tension - 10/10 - Kylie still serving classic banging tunes. After making a strong comeback with the lead Kylie manages to deliver something just as incredible with its house music beats and that build to the chorus, talk about building the tension (pardon the pun). The song somehow manages to feel fresh & timeless at the same time.

2. Magic - 10/10 - This was an instant standout for me with its cool & smooth rhythms and classy disco beats. An instant Kylie classic.

3. Stop Me From Falling - 9/10 - Weren't sure about this at first, but soon grew on me the more I heard it. The Gente De Zona remix is the best version of this track, giving it a Latin flavour that makes it pop even more.

Stop me from falling if was released using the same method as tension would have easily got kylie another top 40.

I’m not convinced. Stop Me from Falling missed the Top 100 entirely in its first week of release, and that was a Friday release i.e. a full 7 day week of streaming/downloads.

Monday 12th March midweek: #65, 1772 sales

Tuesday 13th March midweek: #82, 2040 sales

Wednesday 14th March midweek: Unknown

Thursday 15th March midweek: Not Top 100, 2498 sales [inc. 1596 downloads] (Midweek #100 = 2591 sales)

Friday 16th March final chart: Not Top 100, unknown sales (#40 = 8960 sales / #100 = 3588 sales)

Let’s say that SMFF might have sold 3000 in that week - therefore it would have needed almost 6000 physical sales on top of that to have gone Top 40 in week 1 of release. The streaming support was barely there & even the downloads weren’t stellar. To be honest my memories of SMFF that week was that it didn’t really feel like a full blown second single - it felt a bit promo/instant grat initially.

It entered at #78 on 13th April (5th week on sale - also the date that the Golden album entered at #1) and re-entered/peaked at #52 on 27th April (7th week on sale). That was the Gente de Zona remix week. So its best chance of Top 40 would have been a physical in week 7, which is very different to the Tension single method!

In the #52 week, SMFF sold an impressive 5,332 downloads* contributing to an overall weekly figure of 7,883. The #40 sold 10,821, so SMFF was 2,938 copies behind. Bear in mind the Dancing vinyl sold 1,617 copies in its week of release.

* Side note: I forgot that the Gente de Zona release sold that well to be honest! Yet 5,332 downloads was “only” the 16th best selling download of the week - how times have changed.

Another random comment: I *completely* forgot that Stop Me from Falling had an original version music video! I only remembered the Gente de Zona video, the original was totally wiped from my mind until I looked today. The original video was released to YouTube 3 weeks after the audio digital release, which again is a very different strategy from the Tension single.

I forgot the Gente de Zona remix sold that well and week 7 was the week the physical ideally would have come and would have got top 50 but still not enough for top 40.

Maybe the only way it might have got top 40 was the remix out on the Wednesday of release week, physicals and downloads all counted in the one week ie a Friday release.

I'm inclined to agree to be honest that if they battled for their life to get 'Dancing' to scrape the top 40, 'Stop Me From Falling' never really stood a chance.

They are all pretty similar for me in terms of quality, but if I had to chose i’d go -

1. Tension

2. Stop Me From Falling

3. Magic

They are all top quality songs, Kylie in general gives us great 2nd singles and sometimes better than the lead.
