Both wonderful, Midnight remains one of the most strikingly different and beautiful things they've ever recorded :wub: Lovers in Japan has some wonderful piano work too, wish it was pushed a bit more.

Midnight is superb - so different for them. It would have also been my 5th 11.

The unlucky song to miss the top 10 and it is 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterwall' which could have made it if not for Bjork handing it out a -1 but gooddelta gave it his 11 and that was the only one of those it collected but as far as 10's go it picked up 7! of those. It was the lead single from Mylo Xyloto and peaked at 6. It was released as the bands first ever On Air On Sale release as well. A very colourful, anthemic tune but we still have one from this era make the top 10 and we know which that is now!

Aww two great songs just missing out on the top 10 there. Midnight is so good, such a different sound for them and worked so well. Great to see it doing well :wub:

'Don't Panic' is an understated beauty :wub: possibly my favourite from that 20-11 section, although really like 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', 'Midnight' and 'Charlie Brown' too.

'In My Place' was the lead single off A Rush Of Blood To The Head released in 2002 and it peaked at #2. The track picked up 2 of the top scores here and the lowest was a 5 handed out by 3 people. 'In My Place' starts off Now 53 as well as beginning the top 10 here!

I was always a bit underwhelmed by In My Place. Glad it’s below the glorious follow up.

The next song is one I thought would be in contention to be a contender for 1 so this will be a little surprising...

A surprise here? 'Paradise' might've been a favourite to win the rate or inside the top 3 at least but it even misses top 5 altogether and comes out at 9th. It had an extremely slow burner chart run where it ultimately managed to go all the way to #1 on it's 10th week in the chart for the first week of January 2012. It was the 2nd release from Mylo Xyloto and was the one that really captured the attention of the public when the band performed the song in the X Factor Final 2011. It did pick up the expected 11's but only 3 of those with the lowest being a 4 from Smint. A euphoric track but perhaps the radio overplay at the time might have lessened it for people maybe. Either way it still does at least finish within the top 10 which it totally deserved!

 

Paradise’s slow climb to #1 was all the more remarkable because it was available but excluded for a while beforehand too, due to having been an instant grat.

Oh yeah forgot about that part lol.

Two songs from each of the first four albums left. It's a shame 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' didn't make the top 10 instead of 'In My Place' as that would have made two from each of the first five albums there.

2 of the 3 songs in the top 10 I'm less bothered about out first, Trouble next for a perfect top 7.

Another song that was a surefire contender is also out next in a double surprise of sorts. 'Fix You' was the bands 2nd single from X&Y and is certainly the one most would assume is their most remembered hit from that era but it peaked at 4 two places below where 'Speed Of Sound' peaked at which that of course was still their biggest hit until 2008. Over the years the song has been covered on multiple talent shows like X Factor and The Voice and even been a soundbed for the nerve wracking moments of finding out if the act was through or not. The song is of course well loved and it shows with 6 11's but dandy's -1 certainly pulled it down as evident by it's 8th place finish here. 'Fix You' was written about his now ex wife Gwyneth Paltrow's grieving process about her fathers passing in 2002 and she was listening to their album Parachutes at the time Chris first met her. Getting married the following year. Coldplay also notably played the song at One Love Manchester which came after the terrorist attack at Ariana Grande's gig!

Out next at 7th is 'Trouble', the 3rd single from Parachutes and the 2nd top 10 single for the group after 'Yellow'. We're at the point now where these are getting the lowest score still being at a respectable 6 and RabbitFurCoat and coi were the two that gave those whereas it picked up three 11's and it's average score a bit of a distance ahead from what FY had!
