:hi: we are here for another album pick to check out.. This time round we head to 2009 where we saw Alicia Keys release her 4th studio album The Element Of Freedom. From it was the singles 'Doesn't Mean Anything', 'Empire State Of Mind Part II', 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart', 'Unthinkable (I'm Ready)' and 'Put It In A Love Song'. It was her most successful album and followed on from Alicia featuring on Jay Z's ESOM. What were your thoughts or memories from this era for her. This album and ‘As I Am’ were really strong albums, feels weird that they are so old now.

It's been a while since I've checked this as I bought it in 2010. Vaguely remember it being a great album though!

LOOOOOVE this album.

 

'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' is stellar. 'Doesn't Mean Anything', 'Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)', 'Put It In A Love Song', 'Wait Till You See My Smile' & 'Love Is Blind' are all fantastic songs too... I may have to give this a spin again! Incredible album!

Love Is Blind is quite a nice album opener. ^_^

'Love Is Blind' was okay although did find a few parts boring on it too oops.

Oh I recognise Doesn’t Mean Anything so I must have heard it at the time. Sort of reminds me of Bruno’s Just The Way You Are.

Oh yes I do recall the tune that is Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart it sounds lovely still.

The production on it is superb too!

I think I would prefer Wait Til You See My Smile as an instrumental, some of the production was quite good but the melody let it down a bit for me.

'Wait Till You See My Smile' has some sweet harmonies on it but is a hasty step down from the two top notch singles before it!

I can certainly see the Richard Marxx – Right Here Waiting resemblance there Rob. Good call.

'That's How Strong My Love Is' is decent too albeit nothing wow worthy. Yeah small melody part indeed reminds me of 'Right Here Waiting' lol!
