Welcome to Week 23 of these polls! :funky:  :music: :dancing: :rap:

Results from Week 22:

After surprising the odds to finish joint top in Week 21, Sam Sparro - Black & Gold saw off a late surge from 'Rule The World' to hold on 15-14 in the play-off and win as best song outright.

They may have been pipped in that poll, but Take That - The Flood won Week 22 with 15 votes, pulling clear right at the end from Labrinth who ended up joint second with Adele on 11 each.

Willow - Whip My Hair was victorious in the worst poll, also on 15 votes and two clear of Jedward.

Voted in the best poll for Bruno Mars, Avicii, Hozier and... John Legend who probably shouldn't be in this poll, but there weren't any other 2014 songs making the cut and it was either him or Passenger out of my less popular faves from earlier.

Went for Union J in the worst, have forgotten how it goes again already...

I genuinely love all 10 songs in the best group (yes including All Of Me) - great selection. But I’ve narrowed it down to a top 5 of Adele, Disclosure, Pink, Avicii and Hozier.

Worst: Union J. I have a soft spot for Don’t Wake Me Up too (currently lying awake at 4am :( ).

I Knew You Were Trouble (I do prefer Shake It Off of her two today though), White Noise, Pompeii, So Good to Me and Take Me to Church for best, pretty clear top 5 there x

Think I'll go with Don't Wake Me Up for worst, the Union J song's bad, but at least not unpleasant to listen to.

White Noise, Take Me To Church, Bruno Mars & Skyfall for the best. (not sure how All Of Me made it onto there oop :kink:)

That horrendous screech by Chris Brown easily the worst. I have absolutely zero recollection of the Union J song but there's no way it could be worse than that aural assault.

'Black And Gold'

Favourite: there's a giant 2012 dance-pop shaped hole in this poll :kink: Voted 'I Knew You Were Trouble', 'White Noise', 'So Good To Me' and 'Take Me To Church' but several others are close to those, hard to draw a line.

Least favourite: definitely NOT 'Can't Say No' or 'Don't Wake Me Up' :( 'You Got It All' is easily the weakest of the 5 to me.

Have been catching up with this forum again today and realised I completely missed voting in the poll before last, I put in some very late votes for that for what it's worth (going for 'Feel Good Inc.', 'Gold Digger' and 'When You Were Young' for faves and 'When You Tell Me That You Love Me' for worst :magic:)

Caught up again, voted for Hozier, Bruno Mars and Chris Malinchak here (with Disclosure just missing out, that would have been my absolute fave at the time but it's worn on me just a little over the years, I think nearly every other song on that album has held up better) and a very emphatic and easy vote for Chris Brown for worst, genuinely one of the most painful songs of all time. It being by Chris Brown also does it no favours. x

How did 'All Of Me' make it onto the list? (I don't actually mind it but is it really that well regarded of a song either on here or in general?)

3 possible explanations:

a) I thought it would be funny to see if anyone else voted for it.

b) It came 41st in 2021's RotD 2014 round - it hasn't fared so well since, but I'm amazed that my no-hope nomination came so close to an AQ then, while for comparison Chris Malinchak (locked in as a poll option here) came 47th in that year's 2013 round with fewer points. (I've since noticed 'Shake It Off' came 25th the same year and would probably have been a more obvious choice in any case, but it feels a little too overshadowed by other songs on '1989' these days and Taylor already had a song in the poll.)

c) I failed at multitasking during the session to gauge what the final song in the poll should be, so just went with the biggest hit at the time.

As ever, the poll options aren't that important, as long as the few songs which are likely to win are there. There's no session tomorrow, so these polls can stay open for an extra week.

I should've come to the listenthrough and give compliments to the Zedd song. Stay The Night doesn't deserve to be on the worst poll at all.

Taylor, Bastille, Chris & Avicii best.

Union J worst.

But Hozier is the worst of all of them by miles and miles and miles. And Zedd is the overall best, they need to swap sides!
