I actually only had different points totals for 2 countries but it does make a pretty huge difference for one of those! (and no difference at all to the other one)

 

The one that doesn't make any difference is Taahino being 2 points lower - but the other difference is Abeltesfayeton being 18 points higher and with the scoreboard around the 2nd quarter being so close that is enough to lift it all the way from 23rd to 10th (!!) so a belated congrats to Nate picking up a first top 10 hit! Mildly gutted it's at the expense of Land of DW being in the top 10 whoops but 11th is still better than I'd have predicted for 'Wave' tbf.

I see I only got 6 extra votes from the last 28 voters so no wonder I slumped a bunch from the midweeks :drama: but saved a bit by those being mostly pretty high points, thanks to Savan for a third gold :wub: and Iz for the silver, !!! and Meekul for further double figure points and Jade and Roba for the last few <3

 

I definitely got too swept up in getting a bit of late hype and good reactions on SyncTube and got in my head that I might do a bit better than I did (and I think it is my favourite of my own entries this year so a bit of a shame it didn't end up being my biggest hit) but at the end of the day a top 20 and 5 medal positions is really nothing to complain about, especially as it was only 11 points away from the top 10, Chez/Rich/Nate all lucking out a bit to get the last 3 top 10 slots with so many other contenders so close behind!

 

And if nothing else it's quite the moment that I get to finally scratch getting a gold from FSR Rontvia off my bucket list.

And so close for Mark too… great to see them and Linds do so well… plus Kath getting a suitably great finish to an almost faultless year for Kathaldazia, congratulations on the end of year victory! Plus special mention to Colm who I wouldn’t have had predicted as high as 11th so that feels like a good result. FARC that low down though? :(

 

26th isn’t too shoddy for Melenas. It’s been a grower for me and is now one of my favourite FLJ entries this year… (oddly my winner is probably my personal least favourite oooops :lol: ) and I’m happy that I sent something in Spanish for the first time ^_^

I'm sure Rob was referring to BJSC 153 where a 15% deduction put Hendinia out of the top 20 otherwise would have had two years of top 20 finishes up to now, and isn't supposed to have a deduction this time.

 

Which puts Hendinia 14th and everyone currently 14th-26th a place lower! Edit: Bré's above post amended as such.

Congratulations Jordan, very nice winner - I was rooting for Karma Kid out of the top 2 but I've always rated MisterWives as a band and the song is good as normal from them, so even though it missed my votes I'm happy with that. But really pleased to see 'The Gates Will Open' so much in contention for the win, I'd underrated it in that regard but it was solidly in my votes all the way, great discovery - and of course a good fresh top 2 xx

 

'One Hand Behind The Devil' criminally low, I'd say I wish I'd given it the 18 to push it up like half the top 20 but apparently the best song in the contest was going to get a third of its votes from my 18 so actually 'LIQUOR FISH & CIGARETTES' also really needed it, criminal that that has suddenly become the lowest scoring finalist of the year, it's so fun :(

 

as for myself, a fair average finish to an average year but I've righted the ship a bit with my niches, got a few more directions I'm good to go in for January.

Yes I think that's probably right and I misread that particular post but I was under the impression they did vote a bit late this month as well anyway, I will amend if that's not the case so apologies for some continuing ambiguity for now!

 

(It is true either way that it'd be 2 years of top 20s if they'd always voted on time x)

Hopefully this scoreboard stays as it is now and I can finish on a unique final position! Ironically the last final I was in just three contests ago I finished 25th too.

Very well done Harmonica, after all this time *.* I didn't see that coming at all, sorry I missed it from my odds, what a fail! At least got 2nd and 3rd in the top two in my odds, both sounded big. Shame for Utopia to narrowly miss there, although I didn't vote for either of the top two, maybe for the first time in many years, not that I disliked them. Nice to see Taahino in the top five, I wouldn't have called Ramrynia there - KEiiNO do their sound well though, it will always have a market. Fab to see Dan's do so well, mid 90s style house like that doesn't always light up the scoreboard the way it should. Overall, some different names up at the top this month, which is always a welcome sight.
