Posted December 19, 20231 yr Welcome to BuzzJack presents… BuzzJack presents... is a project that gooddelta, awardinary and myself have been working on for a while now. It’s a project that we took on for a variety of reasons. Central to those reasons is that we feel that the Now series has lost its way recently. The numbered series often doesn’t showcase what’s been happening as well as it used to, and the Now Yearbooks series have been less than fulfilling, hampered by contractual obligations and licencing issues. In discussing these shortcomings, we often suggested that we could make a better attempt ourselves. In time, and with the help of other BuzzJack members, we hope to build a collection of compilations that can be enjoyed and also used as a starting point while investigating a particular era, genre or theme. Every member of BuzzJack is welcome to contribute to the project. At present, there are two ways that someone can contribute. Firstly, to work with one of our core team - awardinary, gooddelta and myself - to compile and sequence compilations (playlists on Spotify) based on a year, a genre or a theme. We have a set of guidelines which will be available to anyone who would like to contribute. Secondly, to produce artwork for each compilation - front cover and track listings for the back cover. At this point, I am taking care of this but anyone who has access to Adobe illustrator is very welcome to contribute. Index Edited January 28Jan 28 by Colm
December 19, 20231 yr I've enjoyed being involved in this and look forward to sharing the first couple of compilations. It's kind of a companion series idea in an era where Now is almost the only compilation brand remaining.
December 19, 20231 yr The first fruits will be with us soon – a comprehensive look back at 2023 and, for our more retro members, a journey through an abundance of classics from 1989. We’ll share the artwork, track listing and Spotify links shortly. In time, and with the help of other BuzzJack members, we hope to build a collection of compilations that can be enjoyed and also used as a starting point while investigating a particular era, genre or theme. I'm a huge fan of Top of the Pops compilation artworks with beautiful ladies.
December 19, 20231 yr Author We'll take that into account when we come to making the artwork for our next compilation.
December 19, 20231 yr It has and will continue to be a great project for me to be involved with, and I’m thankful to Colm and gooddelta for letting me be part of the project! More news to follow soon! ^_^
December 19, 20231 yr Was just looking through the Official Charts website archive charts of 1989 recently actually so looking forward to that!
December 19, 20231 yr Author It turned out to be a rather ballad/slow song heavy year. We'll have 4 discs for 1989. Are there any songs you'd hope to see? We feel we've covered it well - certainly exceeding the Now Yearbook for that year - whenever that gets released. Edited December 19, 20231 yr by Colm

Must go for Kon Kan - I Beg Your Pardon, that track just sums up the 80s decade so well! Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy is one of 1989's gems too. For London Boys, London Nights is less cheesy than Requiem. :D Edited December 19, 20231 yr by TheSnake

December 19, 20231 yr no BJSC entries :nocheer: great compilation though :cheer: Yes the year specific albums will be almost entirely UK chart based. Certainly there has been chat of specific BJSC related compilations though.
December 19, 20231 yr no BJSC entries :nocheer: You could certainly suggest or recommend songs for a potential tracklist of the best bits of 2023? ;)
December 19, 20231 yr Starlight - Number Uno is a very good dance track too, its 6 minutes long though!
December 19, 20231 yr hampered by contractual obligations and licencing issues. While this has been a problem for a long time, this is for me by far the biggest reason recent Now compilations do not quite reflect the hits of "their times" and such. I'm liking the 2023 list by the glimpse of it.
December 20, 20231 yr We'll have 4 discs for 1989. Are there any songs you'd hope to see?As long as they’re all (Taylor’s Version)’s I don’t mind….. :kink: Love this idea and I think you’ve captured the year perfectly!
