Given this a listen this morning, trying to be better this year at hearing major new releases in a more timely manner so this seems like a good one to start that with x

 

I really thought for a moment she was tricking us by hiding another 2 minute song behind an egregiously long intro 💀 but tbf it was closer to 3 minutes :kink: and I was grooving to the intro ~

 

I am liking this on first listen anyway, the vocals are a bit more subdued than I expected for an Ariana house single but still think I'm going to have the hook stuck in my head most of the day :funky: probably comes straight in as my 3rd favourite lead single from her which tbf was quite predictable as the previous 6 comprise 2 of her very best songs for me ('no tears left to cry' and 'positions'), 3 which I think are just decent and 1 that's not for me ('Dangerous Woman') - time will tell if it moves closer to the top 2 for me with more listens, I will check out the video when I get home later :jump:

 

The 'Vogue' sample(?) is not tooooo obvious, kinda similar to 'BREAK MY SOUL'/'Show Me Love'. edit: apparently there's no credit given to the writers of 'Vogue' so I guess it's not an official sample

Underwhelming and mid. Probably a grower though.
