December 29, 20231 yr Ed Sheeran will release Winter Variations next December and claim the Christmas number one single with a Christmas song on it Maybe not for Winter Variations but it wouldn't surprise me if Ed Sheeran goes for a Strangers (Kenya Grace) type sound for one of his songs. December 29, 20231 yr - Ariana Grande will return with a #1 single and album this year - Taylor Swift will reach #1 with reputation (TV) and Taylor Swift (TV) - Despite Taylor Swift (TV) hitting the top, it'll be the lowest first week sales of all the TV albums - Sam Fender will achieve a second top 40 single and another #1 album - Dua Lipa will achieve a #1 album and the follow-up to 'Houdini' will reach the top 5 - The Olly Alexander Eurovision entry will reach #1. Perhaps bold before even hearing the song but in Danny L Harle I trust - Chappell Roan will achieve a top 40 single - The Last Dinner Party will achieve a top 40 single - The xx will return with a #1 album (I'm begging for them to come back at this point) - FKA Twigs will return with a top 40 album - Dave will achieve another #1 album - The Smile will achieve a top 3 album - Zara Larsson will achieve a top 20 album - Declan McKenna will achieve a top 5 album - Jennifer Lopez will achieve a top 10 album - Everything Everything will achieve their first top 3 album (they definitely should if the pre-album singles are anything to go by tbh!!) - Tate McRae will release a Christmas Amazon Exclusive - The Cure will finally release their much delayed teased upcoming album and get to #1 with it - 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked Pt. 1 will become a top 40 hit - Men I Trust will achieve a top 40 hit - Coldplay will achieve higher first week album sales than anyone in 2024 except Taylor Swift - Charli XCX will achieve a new top 40 hit - Lorde will achieve her first #1 album and a new top 40 hit - A David Bowie song will take off on TikTok and return to the top 40 - FLO will release their debut album and it'll reach the top 20 - A Girls Aloud What Will The Neighbours Say? reissue will fare better than the Sound of the Underground one and actually make top 40 this time - There will be Eras Tour mania when it comes to the U.K. resulting in at least 3 Taylor albums in the top 10 simultaneously and at least one of her singles back in the top 40 - Overmono will achieve their first top 40 hit - Lil Nas X will return with a top 10 hit - TikTok users will ensure that yet another song from Lana Del Rey's Born To Die album becomes a top 100 hit
December 29, 20231 yr More US folk/singer songwriter songs to make the chart following the success of Noah Kahan.

December 30, 20231 yr James Masterton is alluding to a huge new comeback from a major artist this week that could blow all.the competition out of the water according to his weekly chart watch column but he's not at liberty to say whom yet. Does anyone here have any ideas who he's referring to?
December 30, 20231 yr I do think this year’s EOY chart sets up an argument for a possible re-haul/rule change that will prevent much older songs from entering the EOY if they weren’t top 40 at all that year. That way we don’t get songs like Mr. Brightside, Sex On Fire, etc. take spots away from actual top 10’s next year. Songs to watch: • “Stick Season”: kinda gives me “Escapism” vibes where it gets like 1 week at #1 and then goes to ACR a month after, but it’ll be like #9-10 in the EOY bc it charted the entire duration of 2024. • Eurovision entries: It’s really just whatever goes viral at that moment and we won’t know what has that potential until like April  I do think Olly will do decently well and it leads to a chart revival for Years & Years • Ariana lead single: drops in January, goes #1 for a few weeks but not too much • Reputation & Self-Titled TV: both will do extremely well to no one’s surprise, the latter not as much as Rep TV but it will expose the UK more to her country songs. In a sheer twist of fate, Reputation TV drops right after a new Calvin Harris release and the latter completely BOMBS as a result • Tate McRae - “exes”: Possible top 3? Same amount of longevity as “greedy” • Nicki/Lil Uzi - “Everybody”: swift rise into the top 5, falls off just as quickly • Nicki - “FTCU”: slower rise and stays stagnant around the #8 spot by the sheer power of streaming, remix with someone random like Playboi Carti or an older rapper, if the “Beep Beep” remix with 50 Cent is any indication Nicki has enough sway to do ANYTHING • Gaga lead single/Joker 2 OST: Joker 2 song does decently well but another song from that album goes viral randomly similar to “I Ain’t Worried”. Lead single goes top 5 on release • The Weeknd - “One Of The Girls”: blows up as the year starts, goes high top 10 with a slim shot at #10 but nothing more • Teddy Swims - “Lose Control”: same as The Weeknd but peaks higher and Teddy also comes out with a dance collab around early summer • random TikTok revivals: idk why I feel like a Katy Perry deep cut will randomly take off bc of fan edits from the next huge Netflix smash, we could see another Taylor song get pushed (“Don’t Blame Me”) and maybe Usher gets a small revival due to Super Bowl residual impact from the US spreading things like wildfire • K-pop entries: NewJeans top 10, LE SSERAFIM top 40, Jin returns from military enlistment and we get a re-release of “The Astronaut” but as a Coldplay duet, it goes #1 (frontloaded of course but small victories), the new FIFTY FIFTY lineup BOMBS worldwide despite doing semi-well domestically, an idol collabs with Nathan Dawe or Joel Corry and gets a random top 20 • Dua songs post “Houdini”: they’ll do fine but none as well as Dance The Night or any of the Future Nostalgia singles • Thirty Seconds To Mars - “Seasons”: this is a random shout for a top 40 hit but I think if it charts decently at all it’ll be a miracle considering how much Jared Leto gets absolutely DOG WALKED on social media
December 30, 20231 yr - S Club will release a new album that will debut top 5. - Delta Goodrem will release a new album and it'll reach the top 20, possibly top 10. - Rihanna will have a least 3 top 10 singles, two of which will be collaborations. (One with Calvin Harris and one with The Weekend) - The Corrs will release a new studio album - Ed Sheeran will release Spring Sessions in late April/early May followed by Winter Nights in late November/early December. Both will debut at #1. - Adele will be confirmed as the singer of the new Bond movie song. - Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars will team up to score a #1 hit, 10 years after Uptown Funk. - David Guetta & Sia will collaborate for a top 20 single. - Both Reputation (TV) and Taylor Swift (TV) will debut #1 with the latter having higher sales than expected. - With all Taylor's Versions being released by the end of 2024 Taylor Swift will be announced as the 2025 Super Bowl half time show (Announced alongside the announcement of Taylor Swift - Taylors Version). - Sugababes will release their new album in the second half of 2024 and it will debut top 10.
December 31, 20231 yr 1. Another year of Taylor smashing the albums charts. No new studio album but Rep TV and Taylor Swift TV go to #1 giving her the female record of number one albums. 1989 TV also spends majority of the year inside top ten. 1. (B) Taylor’s debut album (in its original form) also charts in the UK top 40 for the first time. 2. Lady Gaga drops LG7 and it does rather well. It’s promoted more than Chromatica and the album follows a darker sound / aesthetic. 2. (B) Gaga achieves a big streaming hit from the Joker soundtrack. 3. Ariana goes back to more “pop” based sound with AG7. The era performs more along the lines of positions era than thank u, next. 4. Billie Eilish scores another #1 single and album. 5. Billie also wins her second academy award for What was I made for? 6. The UK do “ok” at Eurovision. Ollys single does decently (top 5). We finish on the top side of the leaderboard *just*. 7. SZAS Lana is an entire new album. It does very well! Critically acclaimed. 8. Dua’s album doesn’t perform as well as her debut or future nostalgia but she does score some hits from the album (and it’s then re-released later in the year) the album has an extensive chart run but doesn’t reach #1. 9. Another Dave album that’s both critically acclaimed but very commercially successful. 10. Country music has quite a big year! 11. Post Malone gets a big hit with a country styled single. 12. Harry Styles scores another big era when he returns to music late in the year. 13. Bruno Mars releases a solo album what has a viral esque moment with its lead single. 14. Band Aid 40 (or something similar for the 40th anniversary get Christmas number one). 15. Compilation album release from Celine Dion celebrating her legacy (but also as a goodbye to her fans) 16. Girls Alouds TEN album returns to the top 40 (possibly top 20) during the tour! The re-release continue with What Will The Neighbours Say also returning to the top 40! 17. Greatest Hits style albums continue to clog up the albums charts! 18. We get *something* from Rihanna although it’s still not a full length studio album but we do get a music release of some sort. 19. Lana (as in Lana Del Rey this time) wins her first Grammy award! 20. Justin Bieber releases a new studio album what performs well enough (not to major acclaim though) Edited December 31, 20231 yr by Jord
December 31, 20231 yr Manifesting either an Indonesian pop or indie singer/band to storm UK & US TikTok. My picks would be: -) NIKI - Take A Chance on Me -) Vira Talisa - Walking Back Home Also expecting the Korean alternative band wave to earth to reach the TikTok UK audience as well, for they have been viral on the last 12 months in Asia.
December 31, 20231 yr Having a go at this for once cos why not x - Fred again.. and SZA to get their first #1 singles - At least one top 10 hit by a core country artist, most likely either Zach Bryan or Luke Combs, or possibly another random indie country artist winning the TikTok lottery like Dylan Gossett / The Red Clay Strays except way bigger. Taylor Swift could get one from the TV of her debut but I won't count that - Sexyy Red gets a first top 40 as lead artist, maybe a collab with Megan Thee Stallion and/or Cardi B - Peso Pluma to get a top 100 single (via a collaboration with a big English speaking artist obvz, I'll guess one of Drake or Travis Scott) - Morgan Wallen to drop a collab with Drake (and/or Lil Durk) which gives him a second charting song in the UK but doesn't do nearly as well as in the US - 'reputation (Taylor's Version)' does not produce a #1 single but 2 of the vault tracks make the top 10 along with the new version of one of the original album's songs ('Getaway Car'?) - At least two more 20th century 'legacy artists' have surprise comeback hits (their biggest since at least the 00s) - There will be an attempt to repeat the success of 'Now And Then' using the same technology for another deceased artist / band member but it does not have nearly the same success - A Netflix series revives another 00s / early 10s indie hit to the top 40 a la 'Dog Days Are Over'. Going to take a wild punt at it being 'If You Wanna' by The Vaccines, this may or may not just be because I heard that song the other day and think it'd be neat if it had another chart run - A terrible dance remake/sample of 'Scatman' makes the top 40 - Rihanna will release nothing, not even a throwaway soundtrack single - People will predict all year that there will be a major overhaul to the singles chart rules. We actually just get another very minor tweak in the middle of the year that takes about a month for anyone to even notice, the December charts are even more dominated by Christmas songs (perhaps 38 or 39 Christmas songs in the post Xmas chart) edit: also forgot to add this one which I thought of earlier! - Marcus & Martinus win Melodifestivalen and go on to get a UK top 40 hit with their Eurovision entry regardless of how well it does in the contest
December 31, 20231 yr Wham is Christmas number 1 for the second year running, the OCC further increases the ratio for ACR entries as a consequence. Diaspora voting costs Olly Alexander the Eurovision Song Contest although he finishes second. Girls Aloud achieve number 1 album. Edited December 31, 20231 yr by zenon
February 2, 20241 yr I can tick a few of mine off now :cheer: - Sam Fender will achieve a second top 40 single and another #1 album - The Last Dinner Party will achieve a top 40 single - The Smile will achieve a top 3 album I fell short with my Ariana and Lil Nas X predictions so far (especially the latter :kink:) but I guess there's still plenty of time...
December 27, 2024Dec 27 Time to review my predictions! - Ariana Grande will return with a #1 single and album this year - CORRECT + INCORRECT - her eternal sunshine album went to #1 but she stalled at #2 twice in the singles - Taylor Swift will reach #1 with reputation (TV) and Taylor Swift (TV) INCORRECT - she got to #1 but with neither of these  - Despite Taylor Swift (TV) hitting the top, it'll be the lowest first week sales of all the TV albums INCORRECT - it has not been released yet - Sam Fender will achieve a second top 40 single and another #1 album CORRECT + INCORRECT - he swiftly achieved a second top 40 single with 'Homesick' but hasn't released a new album yet. - Dua Lipa will achieve a #1 album and the follow-up to 'Houdini' will reach the top 5 CORRECT - Radical Optimism was a #1 album and 'Training Season' got to #4. - The Olly Alexander Eurovision entry will reach #1. Perhaps bold before even hearing the song but in Danny L Harle I trust INCORRECT - well this was my worst prediction of the year  I thought the sky was the limit after Mae Muller went top 10, oops. - Chappell Roan will achieve a top 40 single CORRECT - my best prediction of the year??? not only one top 40 but multiple *.* I thought her music sounded like it had viral potential and was also aware of her Olivia Rodrigo connection (think I saw a TikTok last year about Chappell providing backing vocals for her album) so thought it could come in handy, yay. - The Last Dinner Party will achieve a top 40 single CORRECT - another good breakout prediction as 'Nothing Matters' indeed went top 40! - The xx will return with a #1 album (I'm begging for them to come back at this point) INCORRECT - sadly still nothing but Jamie xx did release a banging album at least - FKA Twigs will return with a top 40 album INCORRECT - her new album is not released until 2025 and I can't wait, 'Eusexua' is a SOTY contender - Dave will achieve another #1 album INCORRECT - has not returned yet but hopefully 2025 - The Smile will achieve a top 3 album CORRECT - their first album release this year Wall of Eyes got to #3! - Zara Larsson will achieve a top 20 album CORRECT - yep, her album got to #15 this year - Declan McKenna will achieve a top 5 album CORRECT - sí - his album got to #3 this year - Jennifer Lopez will achieve a top 10 album INCORRECT - oops this was quite an infamous flop for JLo, only scraped the top 40 - Everything Everything will achieve their first top 3 album (they definitely should if the pre-album singles are anything to go by tbh!!) INCORRECT - sadly this only got to #9 aw :( - Tate McRae will release a Christmas Amazon Exclusive INCORRECT - this was not a thing - The Cure will finally release their much delayed teased upcoming album and get to #1 with it CORRECT - yessss this very much happened and had great first week sales at #1 *.* - 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked Pt. 1 will become a top 40 hit CORRECT - ooh this was a pretty good prediction as well, Wicked I had faith in you x - Men I Trust will achieve a top 40 hit INCORRECT - sadly not... one day - Coldplay will achieve higher first week album sales than anyone in 2024 except Taylor Swift CORRECT - my other Taylor-related predictions were flops so far but this one was bang on *.* - Charli XCX will achieve a new top 40 hit CORRECT - not just one but several *.* - Lorde will achieve her first #1 album and a new top 40 hit INCORRECT but also kinda CORRECT - how spooky that I mentioned Charli and Lorde next to each other! Their team-up 'Girl, so confusing' of course went top 40 but the cruel OCC didn't give Lorde her credit -_- album-wise I was totally wrong though, nothing yet. - A David Bowie song will take off on TikTok and return to the top 40 INCORRECT - this has not happened as far as I'm aware, it should though tbh - FLO will release their debut album and it'll reach the top 20 CORRECT - not just top 20 but top 3, impressive! - A Girls Aloud What Will The Neighbours Say? reissue will fare better than the Sound of the Underground one and actually make top 40 this time CORRECT - it got to #35! - There will be Eras Tour mania when it comes to the U.K. resulting in at least 3 Taylor albums in the top 10 simultaneously and at least one of her singles back in the top 40 CORRECT - a quick refresh of June charts reminds me of 'Cruel Summer' returning to the top 40 + several albums of hers climbing into the top 10 - Overmono will achieve their first top 40 hit INCORRECT - this would've been SUCH a good shout but their Fred Again.. collab stalled at #53 </3 - Lil Nas X will return with a top 10 hit INCORRECT - oh another one of my worst predictions of the year when 'J CHRIST' was around the corner, he really underperformed :( - TikTok users will ensure that yet another song from Lana Del Rey's Born To Die album becomes a top 100 hit INCORRECT - damn maybe this would've been better for 2025 now she has a stadium tour here next year  only 'Tough' impacting in 2024. Overall I'm pretty happy with my crystal ball for 2024 - especially the Chappell, Charli, Last Dinner Party and Wicked-related shouts. Better get thinking for 2025 soon...
December 27, 2024Dec 27 Seems like I need to improve my prediction skills  My Predictions: Ariana Grande returns with a new single early in the year. It is a smash hit and becomes her longest running UK #1 single. - She did return with a new single but it peaked at #2  still a banger tho She also releases an album In Q2 but the other singles only trouble the low top 10/high top 20 The album was released just at the end of Q1 and I suppose this statement is true for 'bye', but 'we can't be friends' was a massive hit rather than just being a "low top 10 hit" The Weeknd releases a new single or album in Q4 and he goes big on pop which leads him to have a big hit. NEARLY. The album will be released in Q1 2024 and he did drop some singles in Q4 this year. However, he didn't go "big on pop" instead deciding to experiment with trap ('Timeless') and Brazillian Funk of all genres ('Sao Paulo') Justin Bieber returns with a new #2 album. It features a universally cringed-at song country-ish called 'Cowgirl' or something like that. No new music from Justin folks. Thank god. Noah Kahan goes from strength to strength. Starting with year with 'Stick Season' becoming the first UK #1 of the year and the album also reaching the top 5 albums chart thanks to the vinyl re-issue in February Correct! The album did perform even better than top 5 when the vinyl was re-issued, actually climbing to the summit of the albums chart :cheer: JID begins to be appreciated by the UK public after 'Surround Sound' and his 2024 album 'Forever & A Day' will get a few minor chart hits. JID never dropped a project in 2024 unfortunately so I can't blame him for not scoring any further chart appearances! Playboi Carti secures a top 5 album with his next album and a few top 40 hits upon release At this point, Carti is as consistent as Rihanna with album drops Olly Alexander finishes in the top 10 of Eurovision and the UK charts with his entry. The song was alright and performed OK in Eurovision. As for the singles chart.... we won't talk about that x Sam Fender returns with a massive single that roams around in the top 20 for ages. His 3rd album also sells 60K+ in its first week Partially true! The first part is correct, the single was massive and it is likely to roam around the top 20 for a while. I would expect the album will likely sell 60K+ with ease as well MGMT return to the top 40 with a viral hit. Sadly not, but they did release a cracking album New albums from: London Grammar, Wolf Alice and Fred Again.. which are all #1s New albums from LG & Fred but no #1s in sight... (also, petition for new Wolf Alice music pls) The Vaccines score their first UK #1 album in 12 years nope, a first #1 album from D-Block Europe instead lol Green Day VS The Reytons turns out to actually be quite a tight chart race but the former do come out on top in the end. The latter's album was delayed so the highly anticipated albums chart clash never happened :kink: The Smile score their 1st UK #1 album but there won't be any Radiohead albums being released until at least 2025 Two albums from The Smile this year! No #1s tho.... Hopefully some Radiohead material is on the way... Dave returns with his 3rd studio album that has a short title. It goes for commerciality > Quality and there are some big names featured. It sells over 100K in its first week. No Dave album either! Let alone any new material. Hopefully he's got a project coming in the new year.
