Noah Kahan could land a UK #1 hit with Stick Season this week, his main competition coming from Jack Harlow. We may see new top 40 arrivals from The Weeknd, Teddy Swims, JID, Sabrina Carpenter and Nicki Minaj among others, plus a potential return to the charts for Sophie Ellis-Bextor's classic Murder on the Dancefloor

Taylor Swift's 1989 (Taylor's Version) might reclaim the #1 spot on the album chart, or maybe one of the GH releases from The Weeknd, Elton John etc.

Breakdown of the week

- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.

- Sunday: Official First Look Chart on Radio 1 from 6-7pm. Please do not post spoilers on the forum in advance as this ruins the countdown for any listeners.

- Monday: OCC Top 100 from 5:45pm

- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.

- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.

- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)

- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).

- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.

- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored. Any chart requests between No. 41 to 100 will not be answered after Monday's update.

- To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads.

NO OTHER SALES INFO

No First Look show tonight, we may get info from the OCC regardless though!

If not, next update will be Tuesday at the earliest as of course New Year's Day is a bank holiday.

Any chances a Christmas song will remain top 100 this week? Think Cher may cling on.
I genuinely wouldn’t rule Wham! out tbh. Although I think it’s more likely they appear in the mids and drop out by Friday
They all get starred out so even if they did enough to hold they wouldn’t be included

Do they? How do we know this?

Forgot to add that The Sidemen were the only Xmas song survivors of last year's equivalent top 100.

Edited by zenon

I’m pretty sure the Christmas songs aren’t starred out. They just do nowhere near enough to make the chart.
Oh ok my bad then. I thought I remembered reading that Ed & Elton as well as wham were starred out from #1 the week after Christmas and so they technically had the biggest drop from the charts due to this

Ed and Elton were started out cos three other Ed songs charted above it iirc.

Never heard anything about Wham! being starred out

Would be strange for them to be starred out just because it’s a January chart tbf!
Official chart got back to me the Radio 1 First Look show is replaced with Dance Anthems for NYE. A midweek bulletin will follow after the bank holiday.

Yes 'Merry Christmas' was only starred out because it dropped behind 3 other Ed songs. Sidemen stayed in the top 100 for an extra week because they were kept on Hot Hits on Spotify for a little while after Christmas, there are no equivalent cases this year to compare. I would be very surprised if any of the Christmas songs hold on this week! (Maaaaybe Sam Ryder depending on if Amazon is still pushing it in regular playlists or something, but it does seem they move on from Christmas pretty quickly with them even censoring the Christmas songs from their displayed chart after the big day lmao). Wham! might do enough that they would have stayed top 100 on SCR I guess.

I hope 'Murder On The Dancefloor' does get its reset this week but I'm worried some shenanigans will prevent it since the regular reset rules are thrown out around new year. (i.e. maybe it doesn't get the reset this week but still goes top 100 on ACR, and then that prevents it from getting a reset the following week even if it gets another 25% increase). Wouldn't put much stock in any update we get this week if we get any at all since it probably won't show any resets until the end of the week and it'll be anyone's guess exactly which songs do or don't get reset.

Anyway... perched for J.I.D to get his first top 40 hit as lead artist at last this week, and intrigued to see if we get any oddities popping up in the low top 100 like Øneheart last year.

Why might Murder on the dancefloor rechart? Is it being re-released? Seems a bit random?

It’s getting a big boost from the movie ‘Saltburn’!
