I loved it on first listen. My initial faves are ‘eternal sunshine’, ‘bye’ and true story’.

 

I didn’t think there was an obvious smash hits but it works so well as a whole project.

 

But I’m not on the ‘best album’ train. I’d rank it above ‘Your Truly’ and ‘positions’ and on a par with ‘sweetener’ on first listen.

'eternal sunshine' is very Tinashe... I love it! Imagine Tinashe's airy, breathy vocals over that?? It's very 'Bouncin''!

 

Enjoying the album so far! (Up to and including 'eternal sunshine' atm) It feels quite 'My Everything' produced in 2024... if that makes sense? And honestly, I'm not mad.

I'm not at the level most seem to be with the boy is mine, but it's good. I don't think it is top 10 Ariana songs for me personally, but it's nice to see people attach to it so instantly.

 

we can't be friends (wait for your love) is absolutely STUNNING though! I don't think it's a hit, but my GOD would I welcome it becoming one! Quite Robyn but with a more subtle vibe, sonically.

 

EDIT: This entire album is actually quite "chilled" and just a "vibe". I really like it.

Well it's clear none of the tracks can be hits. The new single is VERY Robyn :o I can see why she wanted us to hear the album in full, rather than reñease non-commercial singles. It's not rrally my thing, but ir sounds cohesive.

 

This is great. Not as great as Positions I dont think but certainly a solid album. Bye, supernatural, imperfect for you are my favourites. Yes and? Still a solid 10/10 but really does stick out differently

I really like the album. It’s not my favourite but it’s a great effort by her after somewhat suffering from Ariana fatigue a little beforehand. Boresitions did absolutely NOTHING for me :(

 

My favourites are eternal sunshine, supernatural & we can’t be friends (wait for your love).

 

The production on some of these songs are incredible though and that transition from saturn returns interlude into the title track is LUSH!

Eternal Sunshine is easily my favourite, after Yes, And?, and is the second most commercial song on it. It should be the next single.

This album has been SO instant for me - definitely more so than positions! Will definitely be on repeat all weekend, so happy with it honestly <3 :wub:

 

'bye' is my clear standout so far but absolutely love the title track and 'imperfect for you' as well. To be fair though it's all really strong - I think yes and might actually be my least favourite!

Enjoyed the album a lot more than I expected. Only song I could happily never hear again was “bye”

Right I've had some time with eternal sunshine now and I'm impressed! It feels like such an accomplished album for her, Ariana wrote all of the lyrics alone and has tackled the sad, introspective storytelling really well. I'm glad I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind recently too which helped me jump into the concept a bit more. The production is generally wonderful throughout as well (the only song I felt more critical of on that front is the title track, which I think is a complete earworm, but the production felt a bit uninspired compared to the ideas elsewhere on the album) - Max Martin, Ilya, Ariana herself and a sprinkling of other help in places have created a really dreamy soundscape. The songs I'm most instantly obsessed with are 'we can't be friends (wait for your love)' (fabulous choice for single #2!!) and 'imperfect for you', both absolutely gorgeous :wub: time will tell where this album ranks in her discography but I'm really happy with it at the moment.

 

Btw Ariana's vocals have never sounded better! I guess Wicked must have taken them to another place.

I really, really, really need a Tinashe remix feature on 'eternal sunshine'...

The way she uses her voice as if Mariah Carey and Imogen Heap were dueting — her vocal production on this album has never been more clear or skilful. The enunciation!

 

It's such a tight pop album — everything has a place and nothing outstays its welcome. She completely delivered, although I'm surprised by how sombre the entire thing is.

 

I quite like the album but I do feel that the first half is disjointed from the second half though I don't know if that's on purpose or not. Standouts for me are yes, and? We can't be friends, ordinary things and supernatural. The best in the album is definitely we can't be friends though.

Anyone who has the 4 editions from her store? Are all of the editions different in terms of the album booklet as well or is it just the cover that’s different?

 

I’ve had to send my order from her store back as it arrived damaged :lol:

 

Love this, one of her strongest albums! None of them have really become long-lasting favourites of mine and I don't really return to them as albums but they are all quality work as far as pop music goes.
