… Cher?

I’m not sure we can compare Cher to Beyoncé for a multitude of reasons but sure, that’s why I said almost unprecedented.

Buzz is my favourite Steps album.

And: good luck Ella and Natasha!

Surprised to see Teddy so far ahead of Benson. I enjoy both tracks though.

I’m not saying this to be difficult now - (apologies for my slightly facetious post earlier) - and I completely agree that what Beyoncé is achieving is remarkable - but in the context that we are talking about, why wouldn’t you compare Beyoncé with Cher?

10 The Last Dinner Party - Nothing Matters

Vinyl release I think? Didn't even consider this was coming!

Assume back a decade ago this would have been release week!

Since no one else has said it, I will: Beyoncé is absolutely smashing in the UK and deserves credit for doing so. To be over 10,000 copies ahead by Monday is seriously impressive stuff and all things indicate she’s on track to possibly have the biggest hit of her career in the UK, 27 years after her initial debut. We are witnessing something that is almost unprecedented.

Well she’s still behind Noah on Spotify

Because they’ve had completely different careers and I would say Beyoncé being considered the greatest performer of her gen and selling out stadiums are indicative of that. Although, that’s not to discredit Cher and the longevity she had.

I hope this is the week Natasha makes top 10 again

She probably will, seeing as Dua is in freefall.

Mm this Beyince song does nothin for me. Not a patch on her other songs. It's mid tempo country. That's it.

Well she’s still behind Noah on Spotify

"Still" as if that didn't happen today, after several days ahead of it.

Good to see Sia & Kylie hanging around. Just missed the top 100 last week but 68 in the midweeks and still doing well on Amazon Music. Fingers crossed they can make it
So it looks like swerving ACR would only have given Noah one more week at the top - without another big smash he could have held for a few more weeks yet. I still always feel#1s only reaching the top thanks to ACR is slightly unsatisfactory so glad Beyoncé won’t be in that category.
last dinner party down to 13 tonight, i fear even with the vinyl they wont make a new peak :( shame as its such a brilliant song that im truly loving now!

Same, it so deserves a higher peak!

… Cher?

lol she was my first thought too

Beyonce has always been more successful from the beginning of her career than Cher though so it’s not really the same ballpark, even if I love Cher far more personally.

Happy to see Michael Marcagi climbing again, hopefully it can at least stay top 30 this week.

Yes this! Underrated song, another one I’m adoring rn!

But surely, the whole point of your original post was to point out that Beyoncé had her biggest hit 27 years after her debut - and that this was almost unprecedented? I’m not putting down Beyoncé’s achievements - just putting the context to your comment that it is ‘almost unprecedented’ - by giving an example of someone who has achieved a similar feat.

Maybe other than Cher, no one else has had an achievement quite like this.

Cher had one of the biggest selling singles of all time, 33 years into her career.

Beyoncé is great! I’ve never consciously thought of her as ‘the greatest performer of her generation’ but then again, I have never asked myself who is the greatest singer of Beyoncé’s generation.

Was RUTH already more successful than wuthering heights before it got its huge revival , if not could Kate Bush count

Shocked that Beyonce is still only 42 and younger than me. For some reason thought she'd be late 40s considering she started having hits in 1998 with Destiny's Child. Didn't realise she was so young then

Preparing the Rod klaxon for Sunday's SyncTube then :')

(And yeah also very surprised to see Ghetts so low, what happened between his last album and now? Then again that last album charted much higher than both of his previous ones)
