Biography

Bursting on to the scene in 2014, at just 18-years-old Ella Henderson went on to achieve global success with her debut single, ‘Ghost.’ Co-written with Ryan Tedder, the song became the fastest-selling debut single from any British Artist in 2014. That same year, Ella’s debut album, ‘Chapter One,’ (Salaam Remi, Babyface, Steve Mac, TMS) spawned her first Platinum selling album, making her one of only 3 UK artists to break Platinum in 2014. A revered artist, in 2015 Ella received two prestigious BRIT Award nominations for 'Best British Female' and 'Best British Single', rounding off the year with a landmark sell-out UK headline tour, which included two shows at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Following a whirlwind few years, Ella returned to the studio to being work on her next project. During the process she continued to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music, appearing on hits produced by superstar DJ’s Kygo and Sigma. She also returned to the live stage, touring with the likes of Take That, James Arthur and Rudimental, the latter of whom signed her to a new record deal with their label Major Toms/Asylum. For Ella, this marked a brand new start. “I want it to be fresh,” says the 23-year-old. “The industry's changed so drastically since I last released music over four years ago. I want to embrace that. I want to treat everything like it's a clean slate.” - Spotify

Worth it making it in! Yay! Shame about dizzy, it’s not anything special but would’ve been nice to see the Eurovision entry make the top 40 before the show like Mae did.

Liking those climbs for Michael Marcagi & Becky hill too, both 10/10 bops in my books

And happy for Ella making it to the top 10, as someone mentioned it cool to see her there as the lead artist!

Biography

The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. She followed those up in 2022 with Midnights, which she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff, and described as "the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life." In 2023, Swift undertook one of the most ambitious road shows of all time: the multi-year Eras Tour, which saw her presenting new and classic material across more than 100 locales worldwide. It was just one of many reasons she was named Apple Music's Artist of the Year for 2023. - Apple Music

Also, RAYE top 5 albums! :cheeseblock: one of my favourite albums of all time, deserved aoty for sure! And the escapism reset is so deserved! So happy to see it back and so high up!

I don't see any reason to think this was Ella's only chance to go top 10 as people keep saying - her dance hits tend to stick around for ages, I wouldn't be surprised if it still ends up spending months in the top 10.

Happy to see Bryson Tiller in the top 20, here for that to be a big hit - I've never been a fan of him before but 'Whatever She Wants' is a banger, very welcome switchup in sound. Reminds me a bit of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie at his best x

Also shall not complain at the top 15 reappearance for 'Escapism.' not nearly as big a fan of 'Worth It.' but always good to see post-album hits, just wishing it was 'Ice Cream Man.' getting a boost from its BRITs performance instead. Yay for the album staying top 5 since the mids too! Not Rod Stewart clawing back #2 though *_*

edit: also a nice debut for 'Von dutch', a banger, hope it sticks around x

Cruel SMASHer :cheeseblock: I adore it As a Song! I do feel like it’s majorly overstayed irs welcome, but I’m also happy to see it still here and extend the record for one of the longest running top 10s
Shame about dizzy, it’s not anything special but would’ve been nice to see the Eurovision entry make the top 40 before the show like Mae did.

Unfortunately, I can see it in last place on Eurovision. :(

Not a fan of Alibi, but adore Ella, so I’m so happy she has another top ten under her belt!

She must be one of the most successful X Factor acts of all time now, definitely one of the last 5 or 6 from the entire shows history still pulling out hits on the singles chart!

Also shall not complain at the top 15 reappearance for 'Escapism.' not nearly as big a fan of 'Worth It.' but always good to see post-album hits, just wishing it was 'Ice Cream Man.' getting a boost from its BRITs performance instead.

This this this. Ice cream man deserved! Though I kinda get why it didn’t as it’s not exactly easy listening the way worth it is
