I thought with Scene now joining us, it would be nice to give all the many different contributors to our forum the chance to get to know the four of us better, so as a reminder, the current moderator team is made up of myself (awardinary), Roba., Yobnedor and Scene. We all love nostalgia, especially when it comes to music from the 21st Century, and we love looking back fondly on how times have changed, what was big in the charts, what artists people were mad about. Also, what TV shows, movies and games people were raving about at the time too. Much has changed, and now we are in the 25th year of this century, it’s a good time to look back on how things have changed.

This thread is a great way to get to know us all better, so please feel free to ask as few or as many questions, and we will all do our best to answer them! :)

Looking forward to what you all have to say to us! :P

Your favourite chart hit of the 2000s decade?

Literally too many to name but I guess the most impactful for me at the time was Umbrella. I remember hearing its first play months before its release/promotion and instantly fell in love with it yet could never have predicted it becoming a 10-week #1.

Have any of you figured out Dot’s real name?

June Brown.

Your favourite chart hit of the 2000s decade?

'Because of You' which was my #1 when I did my top 235 of 00's in 2013 but 'Bring Me To Life' is a 2nd.

That’s probably something to give some more thought about, but one of them I will say is One Day Like This from Elbow.

We are working on it…

Hmm, well All Saints are up there, as are Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Pussycat Dolls, Mis-Teeq and others. I’ll give this one some more thought.

Did you check any Lithuanian girl groups after my recommendation ?

Tell me where I should start and I will add to my song queue on Spotify. Maybe I can send a Lithuanian artist I like to BJSC one day as they are underrepresented.

I wonder is Scene a fan of the scene music/subculture from the 00s

Metro Station is one of the 'scene' bands and Shake It was a bop!

You’ll have to ask him what scene he is from!

YVA is not available on Spotify :( , so you can start with a greatest hits compilation by Mokinukes and two my favourite albums by Mango - Raskila (2004) and 2020.

Also you can check something from my Lithuanian playlist on Youtube :

Favourite girl group era would be Sugababes - Angels With Dirty Faces (with Sugababes - Change also being a fave girl group era of mine.)

Lead Single - All Saints - Pure Shores

Second Single - Sugababes - Round Round (tough one though as I love 'I Hate This Part' as well).

I can’t say I’ve really listened to much of it out of choice. I’ll give Metro Station a spin. The name sounds familiar.

What is your favourite 2000s music video?

Please Don’t Leave Me, Paparazzi and Beautiful but very difficult to choose.

I'll go for 'Everytime' for best video and I don't think it's one that's talked about quite as much. Emotional song with an intense and deep video.

I was on team Rage at the time but tbh I'm not mad on it outside of the campaign much
