Rewind back to 2000 now and we have four massive British girl groups going through different stages of their careers. The Spice Girls returned after a 3-year wait with Forever, a departure from the fun pop sound of Spice and Spiceworld. All Saints followed up their hugely successful debut with Saints & Sinners - 'Pure Shores' is gorgeous! Two new girl groups came onto the scene, causing a modest dent commercially but setting the foundations for bigger things to come. The Sugababes released their debut album and scoring a top 10 hit with 'Overload'. Subsequent singles failed to do as well and the babes were soon to be dropped by London Records before returning with a bang. Atomic Kitten released the first edition of their debut album and managed to score 3 low-top 10 hits but the album just scraped the top 40 at #39.

4 legendary groups - vote away!

I voted for All Saints in all three cases.

I wonder what the next selection of commercially successful girl groups would have looked like after these big four?

I was going to include Destiny’s Child’s The Writing’s On the Wall but it was only released on reissue in 2000 so the singles polls would be messy lol.

All Saints for the album

Pure Shores for the 1st single

Let Love Lead The Way is one of my fave girlband singles ever (I know I’m in a massive minority!)

Forever (I’ve honestly always enjoyed this heavily derided album! Someone has to!!)

Holler (I did hesitate, nothing really separates this & Pure Shores for me, two of my all time favourite songs… but I guess Holler has a bit more sentimentality for me)

Black Coffee (Easy choice but I like all the others, particularly New Year)

Era: One Touch

First single: Pure Shores

Second single: Black Coffee

All Saints and William Orbit were a dream team with those singles! But I do enjoy One Touch as an album more overall.

All Saints 3x

Overload was coming close though, but it can't beat the classic Pure Shores
