April 22, 20241 yr Also wow at Taylor’s sales! I was thinking she’d be close to midnights in the first update but I was expecting more like 20-30k less than, not 7k :o
April 22, 20241 yr Taylor's new album has 31 tracks, in which numbers are heavily inflated because of streaming, so it's hardly fair to compare her to Adele!
April 22, 20241 yr Assuming she beats Adele, will that make it the biggest first week since Divide? Not sure what numbers that did?
April 22, 20241 yr I will not tolerate the 'We're Good' shade :nono: How dare you both of those are 10/10 bops Judging u both xx Taylor's new album has 31 tracks, in which numbers are heavily inflated because of streaming, so it's hardly fair to compare her to Adele! The UK album chart only counts the 16 most streamed tracks - only 4 more than Adele's 30 has.
April 22, 20241 yr Did ‘Midnights’ really open with 205k? For some reason I always thought it was closer to 300k. (Like 260k-280k-ish kinda numbers) so to see this outdo ‘Midnights’ numbers outside of Quarter 4 is INSANE!
April 22, 20241 yr Taylor has already got the biggest album of the year so far, and it's only the midweeks!
April 22, 20241 yr Taylor's new album has 31 tracks, in which numbers are heavily inflated because of streaming, so it's hardly fair to compare her to Adele! I don't even understand how an album can have 3q tracks. It leaves NO TIME to properly craft a good song, edit the kyrics, create compelling melodies etc. Shakespeare himself pnly wrote 120ish sonnets, because he qas constantly revising them

(Like 260k-280k-ish kinda numbers) so to see this outdo ‘Midnights’ numbers outside of Quarter 4 is INSANE! 204K, And like I said sold 64K since the first Midweeks, so if that will be the same it will be the same number as Adele but I think this one is more front-loaded or I don't know, the streams will be better so who knows.
April 22, 20241 yr Taylor's new album has 31 tracks, in which numbers are heavily inflated because of streaming, so it's hardly fair to compare her to Adele! Streaming is based on the average streams of the top 16 tracks averaged minus the top 2. An album could have 102 songs wouldn't give it more sales because it's got more songs
April 22, 20241 yr Midnights sold another 64K after the first Midweeks, so that would be... 261K (exactly like Adele), so... It's gonna be very very close me thinks. I think this one might be a bit more frontloaded and it will come close to Adele but not surpass her. But then I though it's sales total today would be roughly it's final sales for the week so who knows.

That's what I wrote also, I wish she will, and they can always try to push it but they aren't doing it in the UK if you're not a UK artist.

April 22, 20241 yr Official Chart Update Full update here! OCC updating within minutes. MW's article is a bit messy, it says both 33,760 and 9,741 are from streams, but fair to assume the latter is downloads. It also cites the physical number as the overall total at one point, before separately quoting 197,158 as the total  (and they copied the singles top 40 in place of the album chart, mess x)
April 22, 20241 yr Olivia Rodrigo's cover of "Stick Season" is at #42 in the midweeks stage. Kate Bush's 1993 single "Eat The Music" is at #77. Edited April 22, 20241 yr by DanielSwift
April 22, 20241 yr Olivia Rodrigo's cover of "Stick Season" is at #42 in the midweeks stage. Wonder how many copies it'll shift tonight as the online sale of Record Store Day occurs. #42 is impressive from just the weekend considering it's limited edition and isn't available digitally

April 22, 20241 yr Olivia Rodrigo's cover of "Stick Season" is at #42 in the midweeks stage. Kate Bush's 1993 single "Eat The Music" is at #77. Any specific reason for Kate Bush to be there?
April 22, 20241 yr Laughing at the silliness of 75% of the forum thinking it would sell less than Midnights on the prediction poll, she’s since had the hype of the biggest tour of all time; The Eras Tour, two of the biggest songs of the decade (Anti Hero, Cruel Summer) since that album release, how on earth were people thinking it would under perform midnight or sell less than 200k? I went really conservative of my 240K prediction because the forum had made me feel stupid for going with logic. Probably would have assumed quite a bit higher! Well for me as a new Taylor fan (Oct 2023) I looked at album sales before hand and noticed how low they was this year and i expected sales to be low for Taylor because people don't seem to be buying albums anymore, then 1 month after I said a low sale she realised albums with different tracks on and then brought out a double album. I am glad I was proven wrong but do I feel foolish for guessing low? No I don't.
April 22, 20241 yr I do find it odd people buy physicals do people really have CD players? Is it just for the vibes I own 3 cd players (one is a portable) cds are the best quality when it comes to music.
April 22, 20241 yr I don’t think it was a silly assumption at all to think Midnights would be her absolute commercial peak and this one would do slightly less. Clearly proved wrong in hindsight but hardly an out there thing to predict.
