Guess Mae was partly carried by the fact we done well the previous year and it was held in the UK.

We’ve had decades of artists not making the Top 40 (or in most cases Top 100) with our ESC entry - I hoped there would be enough renewed interest going forward for our entry to become a home hit - if entrants can’t even guarantee a UK hit that’ll return us to the days of attracting people like ElectroVelvet, Michael Rice & Josh Dubovie :nocheer:

One of things Olly mentioned about doing Eurovision was he was impressed by the success of the songs (Sam and Mae) had in the UK singles chart which sadly he is not going to even come close to, at this stahe he probably wont get top 40 this week which will be another disappointment to him.

Really expected Kings of Leon to be safe for number 1 this week in the albums but it looks touch and go but hopefully they can hold on.

That drop for Dua is terrible for second week. Considering Future Nostalgia held up pretty well, it actually had a 2-1 chart run making #1 in its second week..But I guess she only really had 1 proper hit which was back in November.

Training Season peaked at 4, spent 5 weeks in the top 10 and a further 4 in the top 20. If that's not a "proper" hit, the bar has to be pretty damn high!

What do we think the chances of Post & Morgan staying at #1 by Friday are?

They’re still #1 on Apple, and will hopefully have a boost on Spotify tomorrow after it’s HHUK add.

I think it could still go either way although Sabrina is looking the more likely at the moment.

The exact level of the boost for Posty from the HHUK add could be the deciding factor.

Surprised Nemo isn't even top 40 yet, looks like we won't be getting the Eurovision takeover this year probably because the contest wasn't in the UK.

Remember, it only has a few hours of post-contest streaming on Apple and Spotify.

They actually are over here currently, their UK tour starts this week. No sign of any signings though.

Can’t imagine KOL being the type of group to do signings to get to no1

Really? I totally do, all indie acts do it, 1000%

One thing I don't get is how Posty is 4K ahead of Sabrina

got the feeling during the last few weeks that some of her Spotify streams don't count

otherwise her sales would be much higher than the 70K she did last week

Must be the impact of the premium/ad-funded ratios.

I guess PM did over a million on Friday whic will have given it a decent boost.

Re indie acts yes newer acts like Sea Girls or some of them other British acts but an established almost dare I say it legacy act like KOL won’t bother much but who knows!

We do see “older” (as in, not new) acts do signings for the #1 to be fair, James and Paloma Faith come to mind recently. It’s probably more the fact that Kings of Leon are American so don’t care as much about the UK chart.

I think it's an oversimplification saying that only UK artists care about the UK charts

No, but it’s likely that a lot of them don’t care *as much* as UK artists. KOL clearly can’t be too fussed with it if they’re not doing signings even when in the country!
Posty has nothing but those first day streams against Sabrina - it was already 240k behind on Sunday on Spotify.

4k ahead and ahead on apple music just needs to stay within 150k on spotify per day to have a decent chance

Agreed - Sabrina will be on top by Friday and end up quite a distance in front.

Although the shit weather may indent her going above 900k again on Spotify

Sabrina will grab the top spot and Posty will settle for #2 which is still a fantastic result!

Can see it sticking around for a while, could even peak at number one eventually?

KOL have had their last 6 albums go number 1 here - the formats released show they do care, I feel. To be honest, they aren't really a "signings" kind of act, definitely not in the same way that many pop stars are. I'm sure they'll push some sale prices and different formats if it is close.

Looking back at the list of releases since 2000, I am bemused at Daz Sampson getting to number 8 while Jade Ewen got to 27. It's also worth noting that most of the known UK artists haven't charted brilliantly in that time - while Blue got to 16, Engelbert Humperdinck missed the top 40 and Bonnie Tyler missed the top 75.

I didn't actually realise Kings Of Leon had a new album out this week until a couple of days ago tbh, will be a shame for them to lose their #1 streak but their sales have been steadily declining for a few albums now so no surprise that they're looking to probably miss out this week.
