It's really not - pot kettle black would be Pink calling out Ed Sheeran. Not people on a forum condemning something that has been brought into topic. It's quite insulting to suggest that people's views about a very serious issue come down to whether they like Ed or not, and it's just really disproportionate to enter any of this into a context around genocide of all things.

I hadn't seen the Pink story at all before it was mentioned in this thread and I'm equally as disappointed by her as I am by Ed, if not more so.

Yes you are right, not the correct anology at all.

I agree Ed is an idiot and also that he deserves to be called out for it... but I also notice not one person is in the P!nk forum bashing her. Literally just one comment, and not even criticising her. 🤔

To be fair I forget about the AF forums but have commented elsewhere online.

I am not disagreeing with anyone's comments about Ed btw, I agree with them, I just don't think it's completely out of the realms of impossibility that members are quicker to criticise him than they are other acts who are also involved in this, and apparently directly so, which is even worse.

Either way, they are both massive twats now everyone kiss and make up! 😘

This has turned out to be a bit of a PR nightmare.

I mean, perhaps inevitably so, but all his openers have dropped out.

This specific issue is not exclusive to Buzzjack… open up literally every social media right now… he is not a very popular person at the moment…

His other support act are Palestinian aren’t they? So I’m not surprised at that at all tbh.

Edit: scratch that I misinterpreted a past post about the band I think.

I'm sure he can get Temper City to fill in for the support acts who have dropped out. x

Ed has since lost two more openers - Aaron Rowe and FINNEAS have pulled out from their support slots in the last hour or so. really don't know what he was thinking with that statement, genuinely seems like he took the worst possible angle there

edit: Lukas Graham have now pulled out, leaving Sheeran's tour down four opening acts - all of those scheduled to open for him this autumn!

I am disappointed in Ed, surely as a savant of public opinion he would have figured out this wasn't worth the news media shitstorm and would have some conception of what this meant to the tour-watching audience and the proclivities of musicians in general

Obviously if Macklemore has said anything anti-semitic then I and suspect everyone else here would disavow but as far as I am aware, his comments are are in support of the Palestine state against the violence that the Israeli state is committing against civilians, and calling out such heinous acts is not that. I don't know what could be bots in this case.

If these posts are so worth reading and believing then please do summarise how Macklemore's being anti-semitic, and why that's more pressing than raising awareness of genocide.

Theres no point everyones clearly decided Macklemore is a saint (when its obvious he isnt) and thats all im going to say on it,

Now can people stop quoting me if they dont like what I respond thank you

It's not anti-semetic to advocate for innocent Palestinians caught in the crossfire, it's always framed that way by Israel and the media as it'll turn their heads away from them actually commiting a genocide. You could maybe argue that Bob Vylan overstepped the mark slightly at Glastonbury, but Macklemore did nothing of the sort, it was pretty tame by comparison.

I'm not surprised by Ed/his team's response - it would ruin his bland, family-friendly, marketable image, but it is hugely disappointing that we are still in a place where wanting to stop a genocide is still seen as 'controversial'. I am pleased to see others pulling out after it though.

I'm sorry but if you're going to come I with such a huge sweeping statement about such a heavy topic / genocide and base it just on people not liking Ed Sheeran and Macklemore not being a Saint without any credible evidence, then expect to be questioned on it. That is how a debate works.

To just shut it down as people "making up their minds" or refusing to respond to people, in my mind, not being aggressive or rude isn't constructive and I really don't understand what your end goal is here.

Sorry but you're posting and you should very well expect people to have reaction and respond to your posts!!!

I think we're all aware by now of Macklemore’s past controversy and no one is excusing it. He apologized, and I believe people can acknowledge past mistakes while still recognizing that someone has the right to speak out about Palestinian suffering and human rights.

What bothers me these days is that the way support for Palestinians seems to be so quickly equated with antisemitism. Those are not the same thing. You can condemn antisemitism while also standing firmly against the suffering of Palestinian civilians. I think we need to be very careful not to blur those lines!!!

I’m especially disappointed in Ed because he has always presented himself as “apolitical.” But when someone is removed from your tour because of a political message, choosing not to take a stand is still a choice with consequences.

I stand with Macklemore on this. Not because I agree with everything he has ever said or done, but because I believe Palestinians deserve a voice, dignity, safety and freedom. And I don’t believe speaking up for them should be silenced.

You haven't given any reasons for your stance though, apart from quite a sweeping statement that this is just Buzzjack hating on Ed Sheeran when this goes much deeper than that.

In a discussion, viewpoints are challenged and if you're not willing to engage when having a viewpoint that differs from the majority, then maybe think about whether you should say it.
