Don’t forget her good age.

It's funny but it's kind of mysogynistic, whether intentional or not, to come up with these wild crazy reasons why a female popstar is doing well.
This is the age range that is like peak popularity for celeb stuff like relationships etc

This is the craziest thing I've read on here for a while

But is it to do with Ed Sheeran?

If Apple Music don't hurry tf up with supporting Tinashe - Nasty... I'll be having words!

We know the industry is misogynistic and ageist in some ways but let's give Sabrina the credit she deserves, because this breakthrough is a *long* time coming and she's grafted for years to make this happen, notably in the past 18 months or so where I've definitely felt her building a fanbase. Nonsense having a brief hit moment followed by Feather taking off notably paved the way for Espresso to have a big launch with strong support, which only flourished as people obviously love the song, and it's easy to hear why whether you're a fan of it or not. Other factors may have helped along the way (the Taylor support slot can't have hurt her, but I don't think it's an enormous factor), but let's give the music and Sabrina's hard work the credit it deserves.

Espresso is just a perfectly crafted pop song with a fun video and her selling it well.

All Espresso tells me though is a lot of the releases from the big female artists this forum loves have been sub par lately. Espresso blows anything released by them recently out the water and rightly so.

With the way the charts are now with multiple versions of physical albums and a zillion versions of tracks and 3 rip of single physicals, that many artists are just looking to squeeze and manipulate their fan base to get every drop out of them. When just making a great song would be enough and there is such a lack of effort to do that. Hence half the songs in the charts just sampling past hits, low effort where someone else has done the hard work to craft a good song that is just spruced up.

There are loads of people who have said that they know Sabrina because they have got to hear her music thanks to the Eras Tour, it's definitely a factor. But of course it's a mix of several factors and she is greatly talented, even though I don't like PPP at all, Espresso is great (even if overautoplayed :P ) and I LOVED Thumbs back in the day.

This is the craziest thing I've read on here for a while

Whats crazy about it? You think teenagers and the main drivers of commercial music care about older couples as much? Its just not how it works. Sabrina is 25 she is relatable to the peak age range of music consumption, she is now in a relationship with somebody very popular among this group too and seems socially in touch big youtubers and tiktokers too. When you combine this with actual good music and not just people listening because of the artist this is why her popularity has skyrocketed. She hasn't even released her album yet and its looking like 2024 is her year and espresso will certainly be the biggest song of 2024 on spotify. I'm sure everyone wants to pretend age doesn't matter but most people have peaks and their peaks are usually between 18-35 in terms of creativity, product and sales etc in the music industry.

Sabrina coming for the top 2 :o

What a great rebound for Gracie too!!

Tinashe up to #150 also. This just needs some kind of major playlisting!

Sabrina is #1 in the US with ‘Please…’ (#2 with ‘Espresso’). She’s on a major roll right now! The latter is still number 1 on Global Spotify with ‘Please…’ up to #3!

I'm not denying the industry is ageist but the way you phrased it earlier saying that Sabrina and Barry were "a good age" to be in a relationship made no sense. Your explanation above makes it a bit clearer what you meant, but even then, I think it's only true to an extent. Taylor Swift is in her mid-30s and I'd say people follow her relationship status more than they do Sabrina's. If Beyonce wasn't happily married and she was dating a string of guys, they'd probably care more about that than Sabrina's too.

But to even become the support act for the biggest star in the world must have taken work and effort. The exposure has helped the song sure but that exposure itself was not random, it was as a result of her work, talent and everything that came before it to even be considered a support act for Taylor.

I'm so happy for her. The two singles this era are both brilliant. The next question is whether she can also sustain great success with an album like Olivia has managed (not to compare females, just to say that I hope she's just as successful in that field too).

Sabrina coming for the top 2 :o

It looks as though she *could* climb to #1 tomorrow. :o Well deserved, brilliant follow-up!

Is Raye already outside of the top 200 with Genesis? Was really hoping for a lot more
Is it possible to just applaud people for being successful what is the obsession with trying find negative reasons for it
