Scotland got what they deserved. Absolute rubbish throughout the whole tournament.

Hungary potentially going through to the knockouts after leading for about 70 seconds throughout the whole group stage is hilarious.

Didn't think Hungary were much either, but Scotland got what they deserved really, can't have any complaints. They channeled the spirit of the English there through being blunt.
I predicted in the Number 3 listening session that Scotland would go out due to a atoppage time goal, albeit with a different scenario from what happened. I didn’t expect it to be quite that dramatic  Good to see Scotland maintain their impressive 100% record of going out in the group stages.

That was def a penalty for Scotland Stuart Armstrong got taken out from behind. Don’t understand why var doesn’t look at it?? But Hungary looked far more dangerous when the chaos began in the last 15 which is why I stuck with the game. Just glad someone scored in the end!!

Hungary don’t look great from their games but who knows they might wake up in the knockouts!

 Pretty harsh statement they got beat by Germany alright but drew with the Swiss who are well above Scotland level as are Hungary! Qualifying alone was a achievement.

I don’t think it’s harsh at all. You can see the way the “lesser” nations have played (Georgia, Albania, Slovenia) and they’ve all gave it a real go. Pretty much all of the Scottish team have played Premier League or Champions League football. They’re capable of MUCH better than what they gave. Having your first shot on target in a must-win match in the 98th minute is unforgivable.

The only other country that’s been as passive as Scotland is England but we’ve been carried by the odd bit of the players showing their class.

Yeah I think a lot of people are being harsh on Scotland.

I just think the Hungary midfield and defence were superior/had a better night hence the lack of scoring opportunities for Scotland.

Looking at stats like that doesn’t really tell the full story though. Having their first shot on goal in the 98th mins is irrelevant considering the type of game it was lastnyt. It didn’t happen for them lastnyt but everything was in the balance until the 100th min. They were unlucky too considering they should have had a pen. Also the more important thing is that all the teams in their group are a level above them and two of them potentially 2 levels above them.

Teams like Albania, Slovenia and Georgia may have ‘gave it a go’ but il analysis their performance after the third games because if they all go out it’s irrelevant!

Hungary are not any levels above Scotland. They had a league 1 midfielder starting and the striker they brought on can’t get a game in the Korean league! Scotland are nowhere near the underdogs you’re making them out to be. They’re all full professionals who will be getting paid a lot at club level more than the Hungarian side (and probably even the Swiss side).

Even if Albania, Georgia and Slovenia do go out, they’ll go out with their heads held high and lots of them will get big transfers and transform their careers. Scotland certainly haven’t. The fans now all want Clarke sacked. They’ve been let down by their team and the fans have been great.

Scotland sleepwalked their way out of the tournament. They set up to draw a game they needed to win and took no risks. They’ll be going home with huge regret. What’s the point of recalling James Forrest and just have him sit on the bench throughout. They need a goal and they throw Kenny McLean on at left back and not their best winger.

Sorry Lewis, only seeing this this evening!

I know that, Scotland aren’t like Gibraltar or a minnow like that but they are still in the 4th tier in the group in terms of the levels(Scotland are in 39th and Hungary 27th in the ranking respectively) of the teams albeit both Scotland and Hungary are at their best levels in nearly 40 years, both have a decent manager, decent support from the FAs and decent input to the international team. Orban is a huge football fan too which helps in an Eastern European country especially

In terms of players Scotlands rise has also came with decent players breaking through in the past five years which always happens when a national team goes on an upward trajectory but there are also the more mid ranking championship and Scottish premier league players too which need to gel effectively to help the top players (McTominay/Robbo/McGinn).

Talking of Georgia/Slovenia/Albania all three are in similar positions having decent structure, investment and players helping them rise above their traditional level!
