Gosh it feels so soon! Hard to call when there's been so many big/acclaimed albums this past year

Predix of some below where I'll be surprised if they're not included:

Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown

Blur - The Ballad Of Darren

Charli xcx - Brat

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude To Ecstasy

Nia Archives - Silence Is Loud

Rachel Chinouriri - What A Devastating Turn Of Events

Edited by lewistgreen

In addition to the ones that have already been listen, these feel like potentials as well:

Bat For Lashes - The Dream Of Delphi

Nia Archives - Silence Is Loud

The Smile - Wall Of Eyes

Vegyn - The Road to Hell Is Paved with Good Intentions

I think English Teacher will at least get a nom.

I don’t think Wargasm are critic-friendly enough, as much as I’d like to see them recognised there.

Nonetheless, a certain duo is long overdue a Mercury nod, I mean 70 (one of 'em) and still inventive, ballets, stage musical shows, soundtracks to silent movie classics, touring non-stop globally. I mean, what do they have to do!?

"they don't need the publicity". Yes, well it's not just about selling records is it (no-one buys 'em anymore) :teresa:

Predictions:

The Last Dinner Party have to get that nom. They've gotten so much critical attention and hype!

English Teacher

Bob Vylan

Big Special

Nia Archives

Sprints (the above five are also very much likely to get in)

PinkPantheress

CMAT

Romy (other potential EDM picks: I JORDAN, Elkka, Barry Can't Swim)

Kneecap (other potential rap picks: Ghetts, Kojaque, Nines, K-Trap)

Jazz pick (Yussef Dayes maybe?)

Charli XCX (will make this Brat Girl Summer even brighter)

Beth Gibbons solo album (even though Portishead already won)

Pet Shop Boys (they never got nominated, so it would be nice to see them get in)

Peter Gabriel (same with PSB)

Slowdive ('')

OMD ('')

The Rolling Stones ('')

V V Brown

The Blinders

Alfie Templeman

Courting

Soft Play

Artemas

Personal wishlist: Folly Group, Yard Act, Home Counties, Master Peace, CasIsDead, Joe Goddard, Jungle, Willie J Healey

Would add Sampha but he already won

It's sad news to hear that the live performances are being dropped this year, I always looked forward to and enjoyed that part of it - esp when there were lots of unknown artists to me.

Further to the ones already mentioned, maybe these could be nominated:

Sampha Lahai

Corinne Bailey Rae Black Rainbows

Bill Ryder-Jones Iechyd Da

PinkPantheress Heaven Knows

Nadine Shah Filthy Underneath

Yard Act Where's My Utopia?

My longshot /hope would be either for salute TRUE MAGIC or Art School Girlfriend Soft Landing but I don't remember there being much critical acclaim for the latter sadly and salute was released on the final day of eligibility of this year, so... also I actually think they might be from Austria so ineligible anyway!

The Sampha album is beautiful, I'd love to see that nominated. I really enjoyed the James Blake album too if that's eligible.

Charli xcx does feel like she should get a nom at least and I'd have thought may stand a reasonable chance of winning

Oh that is really disappointing :(

Pet Shop Boys surely :magic:

The list is out there:

Barry Can't Swim - When Will We Land?

BERWYN - WHO AM I

Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown

Cat Burns - early twenties

Charli xcx - BRAT

CMAT - CrazyMad, For Me

Corinne Bailey Rae - Black Rainbows

corto.alto - Bad With Names

English Teacher - This Could Be Texas

Ghetts - On Purpose, With Purpose

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude To Ecstasy

Nia Archives - Silence Is Loud

I've only heard Charli, English Teacher and The Last Dinner Party's albums in full so a lot of catching up to do...

Any of the 3 I highlighted will be good enough, I'm hoping for The Last Dinner Party, one of the best albums of the year for me.
Haven't actually listened to the Corinne Bailey Rae album yet but love seeing her name on the list

'BRAT' to win please :cheeseblock:

I've heard 'Silence Is Loud', 'Lives Outgrown', 'Prelude To Ecstacy' and 'This Could Be Texas' and they're all great albums! Additionally I've heard a small amount of 'On Purpose, With Purpose' and it sounded really promising. Will have to give this list a listen!
