I’m still not sure about killing Martin. It’s done now, but they’ve made these kind of mistakes before.

I didn’t vote but I guessed Denise would pick Jack and that Sonia would call the baby Julia. I wonder how they’ll get around not mentioning any of that for a few weeks.

lol how on Earth did Harvey and Kathy not notice Cindy stood there bold as brass?

  • Look who reunited in real life this week! 😍 Apparently Shane Richie and Steve McFadden were there as well so a mini EE reunion in general.

Tonight's episode was fantastic. I was totally engaged all the way through, to the point I didn't even think I was watching people act. Uncomfortable viewing at times, but realistically so. I complete

Lacey Turner coming back off maternity leave for one episode to give the performance of a lifetime, the legend that she is. Excellent episode, I think not having more deaths other than Reiss made it hit even harder as Martin dying affects so many people and has one of the biggest impacts anyone inside there dying could have had.

Sobbing my heart out, they should have been endgame. Also can’t be arsed with Ruby inevitably making it all about herself until she disappears again like she didn’t hide the kid from Martin for years.

Denise tells the family who she picked I think next week so I assume they filmed both cases.

Not sure about that decision (unless the actor quit) but wow it did make for one hell of an episode... I felt Stacey's pain through the screen 😭

Great job from everyone involved with the live aspect.

Of course, Martin also dying 40 years to the day Arthur and Pauline were informed they were expecting.

I won’t hold out much hope for the funeral. Michelle really should be there as it’s such a bad look to miss the funerals of all of your immediate family. Just get Jenna Russell back if you have to! Also Bex should also be there.

It also makes sense why they bothered to bring Ruby back. Once they’d decided he was dying, they couldn’t leave that thread hanging.

So sad Martin has been killed off. Genuinely one of my favourite characters.

It all played out so very well.

I voted Ravi 😞

I believe they filmed scenes for Denise picking either of them so they will just air the Jack scenes and scrap the others.

I'm sure people voted Jack just because they want Ravi with Priya.

Speaking on his dramatic exit, James Bye said: "Saying goodbye is not easy, but after 10 years at EastEnders and on the night of the shows epic 40th anniversary – the time felt right. It's an honour to leave on a story of this magnitude. A huge thank you to all the fans of the show – EastEnders wouldn't be what it is without you – and to the BBC and EastEnders team for trusting me with this role for so many years. This fruit and veg man will always hold a special place in my heart. It's time to look forward, and I'm incredibly excited for what the future holds. RIP Martin Fowler."

Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw said: “It’s incredibly sad to say goodbye to James, who has been a much loved loyal company member for 10 years. James’ performance in tonight’s live episode was nothing short of outstanding and one that I know will touch so many of you watching at home due to his loveable portrayal of Martin Fowler, which has made him a firm favourite amongst the viewers. When discussing James’ exit, we knew that we needed to give Martin Fowler the big explosive storyline that his character deserved. To leave the show in such an emotional storyline, during a live episode is something incredibly courageous to do as an actor, and one that I’m sure will cement itself in EastEnders’ history. I would like to thank James for everything he’s given to EastEnders, and although we will all miss him here at Elstree, he will always remain a member of the EastEnders family and we wish him the best for the future.”

I hope this means James quit.

Martin's one of the best actors they had!! Boring character, but he made ir feel real. He was always there and could act!! They had some deadwood to get rid of before him. I was hoping I was wrong and he would be in a wheelchair, bur nope.

Shame Martin was killed but they had to get rid of one main well liked characters didn’t they

I voted for Ravi too and also for Toni as the baby name 😂

100% agreed with all. They might ship Sonia off  And just not focus on Denise for a while... or have very short scenes with them, rhat they have to come in and wuixkly film to add in, like they do with football results etc.

I thibk killing Martin was a mistake.

Martin dying the same day as Bradley though. Stacey babes, stay in on the 19th February 2035 please.

Remember that episode last year when they mistakenly celebrated Martin’s 40th even though he was 39? Now he won’t live to see 40. :(

And in the same place!!!!

And Stacey was to blame for the two of them dying!!!

The 19th was also the day Pauline and Arthur found out they were expecting. It made sense for it to be Martin-centric and that foreshadowing of his birthday a few months ago is cold.

Monday's episode is going to be amazing

I’m guessing they wrote that in because they’d already been planning this.

Short term it works. Big name death, big aftermath, reasons for Ruby, Stacey and Sonia to disappear. But like with Denny and Lucy, even Steven and Abi, will it be worth it in the long run? Out of those, only Lucy’s death is still affecting storylines and the others feel like a waste.

Out of the 3 actors that portrayed Martin, James Bye has been my favourite, will be sadly missed. his performance tonight was on point.

I did read a couple of months ago he wanted to spend more time with his family, and he did take a few breaks for the past few years, so I did sense this was coming at some point. I just hope Michelle and Rebecca will make an appearance for a brief visit just to give closure to the Fowler family.

I voted for Julia and Jack.

I think having Stacey lose two men that she properly loved and was meant to be with is a poor move as its going to limit where she can go in the future. Martin himself was kind of boring but he did slot in so well and impacted a lot of other characters, I guess them having to do obviously remind everyone of his place in EE in the lead up was ultimately what gave away the fact they were gonna kill him off. I'm just sad for Stacey more than anything.

Laurens family tree comment was great, all three of them provided some much needed comic relief between the Martin scenes.

Agreed. He made the Square feel more real.
