I have a little problem with accepting that Martin would have done a life insurance policy for Stacey to give it all to Kat to buy the pub with.

I'm sure, in reality, that wouldn't have been his intention when taking out that insurance.

Regardless of how rubbish Stacey thinks she is with money, a nice family holiday and some cash in a Trust Fund for when the kids are older would have struck more true.

Regardless, it's EastEnders and we suspend belief!!

As an aside, the whole show feels a little messy at the moment.

Another teenage pregnancy seems tiresome

Wouldn’t it have made more sense for Kat to have gotten a decent sum from Phil in the divorce, or sold the cab office to Harvey and Kathy or something?

The logic behind Stacey’s decision is razor thin. It has been very plot lead rather than character lead.

This is Stacey-who had to sell herself online two years ago because she couldn’t afford food even when she had five other working adults in the house. You’d think she’d want to hold on to any windfall that comes her way. And surely Bex and Ruby might have something to say about it all.

I agree its definitely plot driven rather than character driven, im not fully sold on Kat and Alfie been back in the Vic either but only time will tell if it works or not although i do wonder if its plot driven to have Zoe been behind the bar when she fully returns.

Yeah the whole Vic handover storyline does feel quite contrived and rushed at the moment. I hope it's just the new executive producer swiftly shuffling characters around to usher in a new era and that this won't keep being an issue long term. I'm still really looking forward to whenever Kat and Zoe eventually reunite at least.

I'm not enjoying what they're doing with Suki at the moment either but do appreciate how Avani is dealing with it so far, did keep thinking where is Eve in all of this!!

Not mad about the gang/drug plots at the moment also as much as I've already taken to Oscar

On a positive note, protect Patrick at all costs with those dance moves, here for Louie being a Troye Sivan fan and am obsessed with Barney's line delivery of "I've got to have a baby... A BATH... I said bath... a nice hot bath!" lol lol

Why does new owner of The Vic = Tracey getting the sack storyline? Ugh

I think I've seen the inside of that fake tube carriage more than I've had hot dinners lately.

Agreed that this is a really good period for Lauren at the moment! Both the Oscar return and Jimmy storyline are bringing out the best in her.

I do wonder if they'll respond to the backlash that viewers have presented on this story for Suki and Avani. It's in bad taste but being a couple of months ahead there's probably more to come that they could well need to edit/cut. It does some like they're heading for a Christmas/New Year birth too giving the timeline and we're probably pinning their hopes on it being their big story..

Agreed, for one why are they acting like a same sex can’t be happy without a baby and if they really absolutely had to do a child storyline for them, they could have had them fostering and making a difference to kids who need it. I don’t know how anyone in the whole production team thought that basically forcing a teenager to have a baby for her was even remotely a good idea for Suki. Yes she came in horrible and ruthless, but that was because of her abusive marriage, being trapped, not being able to be herself, now she’s come out and she’s got the love of her life, she’s had amazing character development and this just sets her right back. Of course, she’s still got a ruthless streak and isn’t perfect, she was involved in covering up a murder over the last couple of years, but this is a really distasteful storyline that does a disservice to everyone involved and completely sets Suki back which is a shame because she is one of the best characters of this decade.

I have to agree. Suki had become one of my fave characters, but last night I found her awful.

She literally used every trick in the book to the point of offering money to a teenager who had made up her own mind and bravely gone to the clinic, with intentions of being alone.

It was quite horrible to watch, to be honest.

Yea it's not really sitting right with me either and isn't something that suits Sukis present character. I feel like if anyone was going to force her to have a baby it would have been Nish, Ravi or even Joel. It is possible she might miscarry and that makes Eve realise she does want kids and then they go through the adoption etc idk it just seems weird.

It feels a little like someone in that writers room has too much to say for themselves on the topic of abortion...

When you figure out that Oscar is older than Penny in real life…

The Suki stuff is bizarre. It’s like a plot she’d have had in 2021. Eve has experience being a mother through living with Stacey and doesn’t want it for herself, and Suki now has grandchildren she could help instead of need to parent again.

I think EastEnders is very anti-abortion, I've said it before.

Any woman on the show who's had an abortion has had it be shown as a traumatic experience. It's utterly disgusting.

I’d always found that Eastenders had been very pro choice in the past-Michelle, Sharon, Zoe, Stacey, Whitney and Lauren to name but a few all have had one.

But recently….yeah. Lilly having a baby was actually quite ridiculous and they have never capitalised on it. Her reasons for continuing to pregnancy were daft, they have shown none of the consequences of her being a teen mum and she didn’t even look after the baby very much herself-for some reason that was always Harvey’s job?

And Avani seemed so determined. We’ve had one episode of Suki beating her down to change her mind and than another where Suki and Stacey convince Eve that she does really want a baby after all despite never having shown interest.

Not everyone has to want to be a parent.

I think with this storyline the way they've shown Suki and her arguements towards Avani and Eve could indicate some push from the writers and their personal views only because it's so out of character to believe that's how Suki would feel now.

With Lily I think it made sense for her to want to keep it, I didn't really question that one even though she was younger than Avani, she's grown up with young kids so wanting to have one of her own wasn't too out there. Avani enjoys her social life, is ambitious and doesn't want to be tied down so her not wanting a baby fits her.

Tbf showing an abortion as being traumatic is also valid, no matter how sure you are you want it, it's still a lot to go through both mentally and physically.

At least Eve said some of things we're all thinking but it's still a poor effort to even decide to portray Suki in this way / handle this story in the way it has been up until today.
