I wonder will a 1 cd release come in the future where they select around 15 of her singles.

I'd probably rather not after the last time they tried that :drama:

The tracklisting for Step Back In Time was a bit terrible, it has hits of different decades scattered across several discs, making it disjointed.

One disc was 00s/10s and one disc was 80s/90s, no different to 'Ultimate Kylie' being 80s/90s and 90s/00s though.

I personally love the 'Step Back in Time' tracking list, I think flows really well and I was pleased with 'Timebomb' finally belonging to an album and fan favourites like 'Your Disco Needs You' and 'The One' being included as they both feel as essential as her full-scale singles are.

Also the use of "definitive" doesn't bother me. It doesn't necessarily have to mean "complete" as in everything is included, it's basically another word for "ultimate" and 'Ultimate Kylie' didn't include everything either. Of course, I'd have loved 'Finer Feelings' and 'Giving You Up' on the album too.

There will be plenty more variations to come im sure such as the Number 1s collection, Kylie the Essential, and many others.

Id say a new greatest hits will be out to celebrate 40 years in the industry.

Even as it stands now there is a good few singles since step back in time was released and by the time her 40th anniversary comes there will be at least 10 singles that have been released that could be added since step back in time was released.

While i would be ok with another greatest hits id love to see a rarities collection released instead, she could release a 40 track album.

I’d say the 1992, 2004 and 2019 collections were all necessary and released at valid points of Kylie’s career. That leaves the 2012 one out the main releases that I’d regard as unnecessary and little more than a “cash-in”. I do agree we don’t need another greatest hits though, not even in a few years time for the 40th anniversary. I would much rather a compilation of her B-sides and a few unreleased stuff if they want to mark the occasion.
The need to do a one disc version ! Huge hits only these are more successful on streaming!
They did release a vinyl which had 20 tracks and a mix of the two discs which they could have released as a single CD disc (I do find it kinda iconic that 2 Hearts still managed to make it to this condensed list!).

They should have released a super deluxe vinyl with all the SBIT tracks except the mixes on CD3.

Otherwise the double vinyl is good….but the 3CD is better in this case.

One CD could work but it’ll still need a double vinyl ha ha

Like somebody else said a rarities and unreleased collection alongside a one-disc collection would be a good celebration for 40 years.

SBIT sales figure from music week : 228,584

Which is nearly 4,000 more than the figure they quoted 2 weeks ago, renewed interest in back catalogue adding to total :)

This is a summary of the weekly averages:

670 chart sales between w/e 13 January 2022 to w/e 24 August 2023 (84 weeks)

771 chart sales between w/e 31 August 2023 to w/e 21 September 2023 (4 weeks)

875 chart sales on w/e 28 September 2023

This actually is not a bad total at all, considering it will only grow. Especially if we get a tour and all the promo still to come for the new album hun

Also an audience with

I hope its total can start to increase quickly

It's a pity the threshold for #200 has increased so much recently. Last week 1,016 sales wasn't enough for Top 200! So maybe nearer 1,100 is required?

Im very happy with that sales increase and hopefully it gets a few more weeks with those sales or higher now that Kylie is back in full action again.

Ooh, Step Back in Time re-entered today!

I think I can share this now because 101-200 area of the album chart isn’t revealed anyway.

Back in at #163 with 1,134 sales. Total is 229,718.

:w00t:

Snatch that re-entry! Shame album sales down the lower end have increased - that would have been enough for a Top 100 return previously.

I'd love if it could make the top 100 again but great to see its sales jump so much as it will speed up the platinum certification.
