WTWRG didn’t sell much on release either…which was totally baffling at the time because it’s such a fine track.

I sort of get it though. In the mid-90s she wasn't exactly hot property, it's a fairly uncommercial track and Nick Cave is an alternative artist not known for hit singles.

At the time WTWRG was a much longer hit in places like Ireland and Germany. It only spent 2 weeks in the UK top 40 at the time

In terms of Nick Cave’s chart career, it was by far his best charting so in that respect it did really well (although two songs have outsold it since).

Update total for 'Disco' as of w/e 2nd October 2025: 191,952

That's 11,731 chart sales in 104 weeks, averaging 113 a week. It was averaging around 200 in 2023 when Kylie was actively performing.

A respectable total! So 200,000 some time in 2027 thinking

How brilliant would it be if they lowered the platinum certification threshold for albums released after 2017 to 200,000 and retroactively applied it to all the albums released since then.

Good to see it edging its way slowly to 200k, isnt Kylie Christmas on about the same sales?

I think the update said Kylie Christmas was on 170k?? If you included the 20k of fully wrapped then I guess you could say so ☺️

So combined its is over 200k for Kylie Christmas Fully Wrapped Snow Queen.

Yes, Gold if all combined which isnt bad.

Now that fully wrapped is classed as a separate album it would be nice for it to join all her other studio albums and get certified but it might take a while to reach silver although i suspect next year it will at the least get a re release even if only digitally to include XMAS.

Id be happy for them to push Hot in December next Christmas and give it 3 physical releases and some new remixes so that it could chart.

Gold is 100k, so the original Kylie Christmas already achieved that!

Also Tension II isn't yet silver.

Very strange T2 not silver, considering it has no big streaming hit, but a few picking up reasonable amounts. Of course, Spotify stats are worldwide so we have no way of knowing. I'm always streaming it on low and overnight on my old iPad hahaha. They've probably banned my streams.

I knew it had some way to go and wouldn't have done it that quickly. I think it will get there eventually, but maybe not until like 2027 or something (or hopefully at some point next year? 🤞)

I wanna know how close 'Tension' (single) is to silver, I'm surprised that hasn't made it already!

Random mention but Kylie's #1 singles either entered straight in at #1 (Spinning Around, Can't Get You Out of My Head and Slow) or climbed there from #2 (I Should Be So Lucky, Especially for You, Hand on Your Heart and Tears on My Pillow). So going 16-1 with XMAS would be a new one for her!

Hopefully I've not jinxed this into going 16-2-1 lol (which incidentally is chart movement that I Should Be So Lucky did)

Also, I'm definitely getting ahead of myself here considering it's not even officially spent 1 week at #1 yet, but if it was to manage two weeks, it would be her first chart topper to spend 2 weeks (and presumably no more beyond that in the future) at #1!

5 weeks - I Should Be So Lucky

4 weeks - Can't Get You Out of My Head

3 weeks - Especially for You

(2 weeks? - XMAS)

1 week - Hand on Your Heart, Tears on My Pillow, Spinning Around, Slow

She'd have #1 singles as a teenager, and in her 20s, 30s and 50s. I guess only Cliff Richard beats that?

If only All the Lovers had managed to do better and give her that #1 single to tick off the 2010s and her 40s! But alas, it didn't come close...

All the Lovers sales while at #4 and #3:

1 84,145 SHOUT - SHOUT FOR ENGLAND FT DIZZEE RASCAL & JAMES CORDEN
2 76,329 WAVIN' FLAG - K'NAAN
3 53,758 KICKSTARTS - EXAMPLE
4 49,212 ALL THE LOVERS - KYLIE MINOGUE

^ That #1 though 👀

1 93,363 CALIFORNIA GURLS - KATY PERRY FT SNOOP DOGG
2 54,845 AIRPLANES - B.O.B FT HAYLEY WILLIAMS
3 52,454 ALL THE LOVERS - KYLIE MINOGUE

The last time those artists that held her back from #1 had Top 10 or Top 40 hits:

James Corden: 2010 (last Top 10 & last Top 40)
K'Naan: 2010 (last Top 10 & last Top 40)
Dizzee Rascal: 2013 (last top 10) + 2016 (last top 40)
B.O.B: 2013 (last Top 10 & last Top 40)
Example: 2014 (last Top 10 & last Top 40)
Snoop Dogg: 2014 (last Top 10 & last Top 40)
Hayley Williams: 2014 (last Top 10 & last Top 40) [+ her last Top 40 hit in Paramore was in 2017]
Katy Perry: 2017 (last Top 10) + 2020 (last Top 40)

Yes next week will be interesting because it should have much bigger streams and should have a good lead first look/ Monday. I guess from that lead we’ll know if it stands a chance.

Team Kylie may have other download options e.g bundles inc the video and a remix. Guess it depends on yesterday’s data eeeek they might go hard today instead.

'All the Lovers' would have been a great #1 but it didn't really stand a chance in the middle of World Cup fever and massive hits like 'California Gurls' and 'Airplanes'. Maybe if the release had been a month or two previously and aligned with one of the weeks the #1 had sub 50k sales.

I believe it was midweek #2 all week before being pushed down to #3 last minute. It managed 12k from physicals which seemed like a pretty big amount by 2010 standards. It would have been #8 without them.

The bigger missed opportunity was 'I Believe in You'. It had four weeks available on download before the physical was released (sales which were chart ineligible) and the physical was out two weeks after the album. Still, it managed 39k which were decent sales for a #2. If only the single was released the same day as the album and it could maybe have sneaked a week at #1, in between Girls Aloud's Children in Need single and Band Aid 20.

Whilst on the topic of "could have been #1", 'Je ne sais pas pourquoi' was 442 copies behind Enya's 'Orinoco Flow' on its third week of falling closely behind!
