Shall need to queue something as an RIP slot for Quincy Jones this week - trying to think if any of the big Quincy era MJ hits haven't been played at these sessions before, I don't think we've had 'Wanna Be Startin' Somethin''?

It's news to me that he ever even released any music under his own name ngl.

Tomorrow's #1s are prepped, this couple of years in the early 70s has a ton of one week #1s and perhaps because of that there aren't many #2s in the period covered in this session. Here's the list anyway, as usual pick up to 3 favourites :magic:

The Allman Brothers Band - Ramblin' Man

B.T. Express - Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)

Carole King - Jazzman

Carpenters - Yesterday Once More

Eddie Kendricks - Boogie Down

Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

The Jackson 5 - Dancing Machine

Paul McCartney & Wings - Live And Let Die

Paul Simon - Kodachrome

Paul Simon - Loves Me Like A Rock

The Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New

~

I'll just pick the 3 most obvious ones x

Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Paul McCartney & Wings - Live And Let Die

Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

The Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New

'Ai No Corrida' by Quincy Jones for the RIP slot.

Carpenters - Yesterday Once More

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

The Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New

Well this wasn't difficult!

Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Paul McCartney & Wings - Live And Let Die

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Paul Simon - Kodachrome

Paul Simon - Loves Me Like A Rock

I don't know either of these Paul Simon songs, but I'd be more interested to hear them than some of the obvious ones here!

I don't normally do this but could I make a request for 'The Places You Find Love' for an additional Quincy Jones related track? I know it's not a really well known single but it has special memories for me of my grandparents.

For the three from the existing list

The Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Paul Simon - Loves Me Like A Rock

Kicking off again in 20 minutes :jump:

I guess Quincy Jones is a big enough name to justify playing multiple songs, especially as we're quite light on bonus songs this week otherwise. I do still want to play an MJ song he produced (and in the absence of anyone else suggesting one I'll go with the one I said x), I understand why people want to play something in his own name but I think it's a bit silly not to acknowledge that he's much more well known for his behind the scenes work.

Just going to snap with the obvious ones x

Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Paul McCartney & Wings - Live And Let Die

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Carpenters - Yesterday Once More
