Bud Abbott & Lou Costello were an American comedy duo circa the 1940s. They're best known nowadays for their

sketch where an attempt to name players on a baseball team devolves into lunacy due to the players having names that sound like parts of speech, and neither speaker being able to come to terms with the other's misinterpretation of what's being said. It's incredibly sharply written and delivered. I couldn't help but notice the similarity to the conversation that took place above my post.
