[/late] confirming the final scoreboard is all correct as hoped!

 

This is really an excellent top 10 all around - I gave at least 9 points to every single song in the top 5(!), and while there was only one other song in the top 10 I voted for, 2 of the others were commiserations. I did know from the semi results that TEMMIS and James K were hitting with the alt bloc but I didn't expect them to do quite this well in the final considering how good a semi draw they had, I commented on SyncTube the other day that it tends to be more likely that 'alt voters' would back pop songs than the other way round but some of the outcomes here are making that seem less clear cut, it's nice to know that it's totally possible to have both pop dominated and alt dominated contests, keeps me on my toes x Great result for No Mana to finish in the top 5 too, was giving me some Digitalism vibes.

 

Of course didn't have any info from the semis on how well Taahino would do but thrilled to see this being another big hit for them, I think I actually like it more than all of the Against The Current entries, reminded me a lot of 'If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power' era Halsey :heart: lol at it actually getting more points than Nicolina did but missing out on the top 2 in the end.

 

Although they fell a bit short of my votes in the end that's really cool to see Ben's Sanctuary sneaking into the top 10 - their first top 10 hit since Jasper Forks in BJSC 26 :o Just doing a quick #statscheck as I was thinking that had to be a record gap between top 10 hits by a wide margin and indeed it is, although in fact the same record was also broken last month without me thinking to check lol (Sandénia had a gap of 107 contests from Tanika in BJSC 60 to Hayes Warner in BJSC 167). Before that the record was 105 for Scherzland (A. R. Rahman in BJSC 15 to Kah-Lo in BJSC 120).

 

Also great to see Lookylion and Hendinia top 15 (surprised I was the only one to give an 18 to the former although they got plenty of 15s and 13s) and some decent midtable results for Land of DW, Danæviia and Sovarasma. Underrated corner for Utopia, Kathaldazia and Ajanaeda, and Neliönoir but considering they only got 30 points in the semi a result avoiding the bottom 5 is not too bad really! FARC didn't deserve to be a distant last place oof, I imagine that song would have done rather well if it was sent around the time it was released, admittedly it sounds quite of its time now.

 

Thanks Lindsey for the hosting, really enjoyed the theming this month. Hopefully back to Aeroche hosting next month then? *.* (that's now 15 wins for them, one more and they'll have twice as many as the second most!)

And here's a quick YTD update for y'all (refer here for the previous positions). The gaps in the top 3 widen out a bit with Aeroche of course retaking #1, while POPHub knock Bronzil out of the top 10.

 

A large oof at me being out of the top 30 now (and I am now out of the rolling YTD top 30 for the first time in nearly 12 years :'( I thought that might have happened a few months ago but I was still just about managing to cling on until this month). This is not my year, really need to try and bring some firepower to the last two contests x

Congratulations Leww :cheer: back to winning ways for the first time since I started! Well done Jade on another second place this year too, really hope you get that AQ spot this time! Very pleased to see that top 5, even if I didn't vote for all the songs or give them as many points as I could have.

 

Even at the expense of the songs I voted for in 11th-13th, it's great to see Ben's Sanctuary back in the top 10 after such a long gap, and I'm happy to see Harmonica and The Spodic Empire top 20 albeit only just. Would have liked my top 2 of Séyetana and Danæviia higher though, and never would have thought my 8 point vote would be more than 10% of FARC's total, but here we are.

 

Inevitably this was my 10th consecutive entry to both qualify and miss the top 10, making Bronzil only the 5th nation to have such a run. I wasn't expecting it to have my lowest number of final voters though with 13, one less than my wooden spoon courtesy of Mozey had. Gives me plenty to think about if I want to keep the qualifying streak going, let alone try to get back in the YTD top 10. At least it had some big supporters and that's always nice to see.

Congrats Leww on another decisive win! I underestimated Active Child's appeal for some reason although I did like the song. 15 wins is obviously an incredible milestone!

 

Only 4 of my votes made the top 10 but I'm glad that all three of the songs I've known for 10+ years (Loona, Lissie, DragonForce) made the top 20.

 

Speaking of top 20, 19th is well above and beyond my expectations for my entry! 'True Confessions' was near the bottom of my potentials list until I decided to go with a Taahino theme for my entry. Thanks especially for all the double-digit points it received.

 

My votes were kind of a bloodbath, I regret not having room for Hushkanukia/KATSEYE despite ranking it pretty high in the semifinal, and also Ben's Sanctuary/Elderbrook which surely would've had votes from me in most contests. At least one of the two did well, yay x

I was hoping more people would appreciate Kathaldazia doing something a bit different with Arabic last month and German this month. Quite disappointed with the 2 bottom table finishes in a row!

Oh congrats Leww, it's been a minute! Unfortunately this song wasn't my cup of tea at all but can see why it was popular amongst Buzzverse! Pretty decent top 10 overall, must say I'm shocked Elderbrook finished that high, thought that one was a surprise qualifier in the first place.

 

Dragonforce in the top 20/half :yahoo: that's a great result for it and my 18 points were extremely useful indeed for that particular pursuit.

 

A big hand to Taahino for hosting, I really digged this old school card-style theme you had going on.

Thank you everyone for voting Active Child! I know the running joke was that I win all the time and stuff but it's been nearly three years since I last won so genuinely didn't really think it would happen again! I was having a bit of a crisis about what to send so changed this at something like 11pm on deadline day with no expectations apart from the fact it's one of my favourite songs of all-time and I'm really glad it connected!

 

Well done to Jade (who I did think would win as I was tallying up the scoreboards so well done) and to Lindsey on two Top 3s in a row and technically joint runner up points-wise, you're on a bit of a hot streak! Well done to Cadelicia too which was a brilliant entry and glad to see TSHA in the Top 10 after "Sister" really underperformed.

 

Surprising results on the whole but a fun and brilliantly hosted contest, well done Lindsey and thanks for letting me be a part of it x
