Posted October 8, 2024Oct 8 Soooo, all my life growing up the below version is the version I knew/was most familiar with: D6i46RyWe14 Yet over the last few years this version (which I think is far inferior) is the version I seem to have been hearing everywhere and is apparently the version in the video  OnT58cIJSpw Am I going mad? For those who were around properly in 1994, which version was actually the most known one at the time?
October 8, 2024Oct 8 The brothers in rhythm was the UK remix (the first version). The other version was the hit in the Europe, this was back in the day when records routinely got remixed for the UK market to be hits here
October 8, 2024Oct 8 The first version is the one I knew back in ‘95. It’s the one on compilation albums from the time and the vinyl 12”
October 8, 2024Oct 8 oh my guess it shows I'm EU not UK cos I've never ever ever in my life heard the 1st version and always always heard the 2nd one

The original European version wasn't even included on our single here in the UK so it was a surprise to me also when I first saw the video on youtube.
October 8, 2024Oct 8 I don't think I've ever heard the second version (and I wasn't even 'properly' around in 1994!) First version is the one I know from all the various CDs/compilations/MP3 downloads I've had over the years and is also the one they use in GTA5.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 Yeah that first version was on the radio and tv all the time. Never heard the version in the second video. I actually prefer it. Mind you I don't like the song personally
October 9, 2024Oct 9 Omg what is that first version lol Second version is and was the one that made this song huge!!!
October 9, 2024Oct 9 Omg what is that first version lol Second version is and was the one that made this song huge!!! The first version is the one we got in the UK and the one more known here. The song was huge in the UK too.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 Definitely more familiar with the first one. I’m sure I’ve heard a third version that uses the slower intro in the second video but is otherwise the same as the first, as I don’t recognise the rest of the second video. I know it’s a classic but this song has always just been “there” for me. I can bop to it on a night out but there’s bucket loads of other 90s dance music I’d chose to hear over this.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 The only version I have heard was the UK mix (and it topped my personal charts) - the other version sounds a bit lacking after only knowing the remix, though the video is good.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 I've always thought the UK version of this was a track tailor made to soundtrack a ride on a travelling fairground waltzer.

I get where you are coming from, I also think a lot of 90s and early 00s eurodance has fairground vibes and imagery, No Limit by 2Unlimited also has those vibes although it was a giant pinball machine, there was Culture Beat - Got To Get It too with the fairground part of their video, Divine Inspiration - The Way later on with the fairground video and then on the poppy eurodance side obviously Simply Red - Fairground too. October 24, 2024Oct 24 Author Somewhat interestingly, I'm actually seeing Corona perform at a pool party I'm going to on holiday in a couple of weeks. It'll be interesting to see which version they do!
October 24, 2024Oct 24 Eurgh what is that horrible bit after the first chorus in the second version? There's no need for that screeching!!

January 5Jan 5 There's a whole thread that can be made out of "Songs that charted in the UK in a different mix but now the main one that gets played is the original instead" except with a snappier title. I remember about a decade ago, it was irritatingly impossible to find the 'right' version of Ian Van Dahl's Castles in the Sky on YouTube, I think I ended up finding it on something like page 11 or 12 of the results as all the other versions were this weird other mix that might have been the original. ATB's 9pm has been mentioned here before where the original, 1998 version seems to have replaced the Sequential One 1999 mix that was the main one people bought and danced to on its UK smash release. As for Corona, it was the UK mix I heard all the time until some point in the 2010s, possibly even as late as 2017 when the film 'The Disaster Artist' used it.
